eubielicious is reconsidering his goals for the next week...
It seems that as an extra to the web design work, SEO knowledge is becoming almost indispensable – after all, if no-one can find your website, you won’t get any business! I have learned about the useful Wordtracker site, which I will be getting to grips with over the next few days and then determining whether it’s worth the fee.

I can’t say I’m an uber expert here, and especially since I can’t code CSS for nuts I’m really nowhere just yet. BUT at least I can say I know the basics of it. One would think that it’s mostly just link building, and in my experience I gotta say that it is… But that’s stuff beyond your control. Little things on your websites DO matter.
And folks, it’s much more than just stuffing your entire page with keywords.. You’re defeating the purpose of search engine optimization if you have a website like “the best pink shoe store that sells pink shoes. amazing pink shoes prices and free shipping for pink shoes” or something. You MIGHT rank temporarily, but i guarantee you that you won’t get any sales..
I read a lot of stuff to learn what I did with SEO, and at the same time I was able to learn on the job. But a great resource is Aaron Wall’s SEOBook which is available at SEOBook.com/join for an ALWAYS updated information on SEO. SEOMoz.org also has great articles which you can use to get started.
Good luck to everybody!

I need to learn SEO for my job, which is SEO. I’ve started to read Search Engine Marketing, Inc. by Mike Moran and Bill Hurst. I’m also reading web design for ROI by Lance Loveday and Sandra Nietaus to understand how the design effects SEO. By next week I want to have both those books consumed, and start applying what knowlege I learned.

I found this great resource for learning SEO – without all the B.S.
Its a free pdf file called SEO Fast Start, by Dan Thies. I’m currently on page 18 of 100. He covers the essentials of SEO, along with more advanced techniques later on in the book. I really like so far, and free is my favorite price.
You can get a copy of the book at SEO Fast Start 2007.
Try it and let me know what you think.
