laugh at my demons

I never learned to count my blessings, I choose instead to dwell in my disasters... 7 months ago

Walk on down the hill
Through the grass grown tall and brown
And still it’s hard somehow to let go of my pain
On past the busted back
Of that old and rusted Cadillac
That sinks into this field collecting rain

Will I always feel this way
So empty, so estranged

Of these cutthroat busted sunsets
These cold and damp white mornings I have grown weary
If through my cracked and dusty dimestore lips
I spoke these words out loud would no one hear me

Lay your blouse across the chair
Let fall the flowers from your hair
And kiss me with that country mouth so plain
Outside the rain is tapping on the leaves
To me it sounds like they’re applauding us
The quiet love we make

Will I always feel this way
So empty, so estranged

Well I looked my demons in the eye
Laid bare my chest said do your best destroy me
See I’ve been to hell and back so many times
I must admit you kinda bore me

There’s a lot of things that can kill a man
There’s a lot of ways to die
Yes and some already dead who walk beside you
There’s a lot of things I don’t understand
Why so many people lie
Well it’s the hurt you hide that fuels the fires inside you

(Ray LaMontagne, Empty)

Doubt 2 years ago

Another thing to fight the doubt: laugh!
A thought that seems misleading? Is it along the lines of “I can’t possibly do it?” or “That can’t be!”
Laugh! Even if you don’t feel like laughing, just laugh!
Don’t go the route of intellectually arguing with yourself, weighing pros and cons… It’s wasting time! It’s doubt and it dies when you laugh at it.
Haha! In your face.

I need a little time for some Demon Identification. 2 years ago

Because once I figure out just what they are, they seem so silly. So why do they scare me so?

I’d like to cease doing it, that’s why I laugh at my demons.

It ain’t easy, but being serious about your shortcomings only makes them more. It’s a scary thing I found out.

I forget how determined they are until they resurface, and things get really bad.

But I am learninng that I can laugh at them, and therefore beat them. It is hard, but possible and entirely worth the effort.

“just another trick… can I weather this?”

Taming your Gremlin: A Guide to Enjoying Yourself 3 years ago

I’ve started to read this book that my fiance brought for me at a used book store for $3. It’s cute and has a funny picture on the front but it has deep wisdom on the inside. I think I’ll glean alot from this little book.
