Get an African Ancestry DNA test

I really want to do this as well. My father passed in 2007 and my uncle and some other relatives are left, and I really want to know at least where this great great grandmother actually came from. On my father’s side, we trace to this one woman who came to Montserrat in the early 1800s after they captured her picking up sea shells on the beach where we don’t know. perhaps with this DNA, we can set this to right. I may talk to my uncle about it.

I have researched the prices for the testing. It’s 350.00 for each test (for the maternal or paternal lineage). I would like to get both done.

Ever since I watched the African American Lives PBS special, I have wanted to have my African ancestry traced. Because my ancestors were enslaved, it is difficult to trace my heritage. This is true for so many African Americans. I would like to know what part of Africa my ancestors were from. I think it would be a good way to honor their struggles and legacy.
