My choir teacher mentioned it on Monday. He said when he read it in college and his room mate tried to get him kicked out because he would sit there laughing hysterically while reading it.

This intrigued me, so I went out and bought a copy today. We’ll see what happens. I have one more book I want to read before it but I will get to it!

A fantastic book, it’s so funny and the dialog is great. Following the main character is like watching a train wreck, you just can’t look away.

It kept reminding me of Twain’s satire in Huck Finn. I enjoyed the book a lot. Toole brilliantly wove multiple strands together into a wonderful farce.

I don’t understand why it won a Pullitzer, though.

Yes. I, Elderbear, humbly admit I was wrong.

43Things is compelling me to actually read this book sooner. I may start as soon as next week. Having this as an attainable goal makes it so much harder to either ignore, postpone, or give up on.

Besides. I just unpacked it last night and put it on the shelf. My “but I don’t know where it’s packed” excuse just evaporated!

My wife has told me it’s a great read. That I’ll enjoy it. That was a couple years ago. It’s still gathering dust. 43things.com isn’t going to help me read it sooner!!!
