Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

InkalinkBallroom Blitz by Sweet

Another moment with my Best Friend Rach. We spent hours watch youtube, and became obsessed with this video

Which in turn made me obsessed with the song. I love it. I love singing to it, and even more than that I love the best friend who understands everything this video means :) 3 years ago

InkalinkJonas Brothers Year 3000

This is embarrassing. However, when I was 17 my best friend and I stumbled across this band of 3 brothers and fell in love with their random, silly youtube videos. From there on out, we bought into the Jonas Brothers. We attended 3 concerts, bought all of their albums and were crazy fan girls. It was great. Yes, I do still listen to my random Jonas Brothers cd’s. And it will always bring a smile to my face! The year 3000 may not have been originally sung by them, and it may not be their best. But every time my best friend and I go on a road trip we put in the Jonas Brothers turn it to track 13 and jam out to the Year 3000. The Jonas Brothers will always remind me of one of the best friendships I have ever had. 3 years ago

InkalinkWho Needs Pictures by Brad Paisley

Oh, just forgotten photographs
To remind me of the past
Oh, but I can still see everything just fine
Who needs pictures with a memory like mine

This is the first song I had ever heard by Brad Paisley. My grandma played it for me, and when I was 9 or so it didn’t seem to be so important. But when my grandma passed away in 2001 this is the song I listened to over and over and over. I could hear her soft whisper as she sang. Now Brad Paisley is one of my favorite artists, for one reason alone. Every time I hear him sing, I can think of my grams humming along as she dusted her front room, swooning to his voice. Those are the memories I will always remember and the memories that make me smile. 3 years ago

InkalinkTell Her Something ~ The Age of Information

This song is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard, the way its sung and the lyrics just break my heart. However, this is one of my all time favorite songs.

Tell her she is all that’s beautiful
Tell her everything’s my fault
Tell her this is not what I had planned
Tell I am moving on

Hmm… I think I am going to go jam out now :) 3 years ago

InkalinkBreaking Benjamin~ I Will Not Bow

All is lost again
But I’m not giving in

I will not bow
I will not break
I will shut the world away
I will not fall
I will not fade
I will take your breath away

This song always reminds me to never forget who I am. That I am stronger, smarter, and better than I believe. It reminds me to keep my head up no matter what comes at me. Because in the end, I will not lie aside. I will come up strong. 3 years ago

InkalinkWhen Love and Hate Collide ~ Def Leppard

One of the best songs ever! I may only be 22 years old but The Vault is one of my all time favorite albums. I can picture myself now singing along with my father :) 3 years ago

InkalinkJon Foreman~ A Mirror is Harder to Hold

Just listen. Pure beauty.

Honestly anything by this man is moving to me. And picking just one song is hard. But this is definitely my pick. For this reason:

I could try and point the finger but the glass points in my direction. 3 years ago

InkalinkSkyscraper~ Demi Lovato

Honestly, she is one of the most talented young woman today. I believe her story is inspiring and I must admit that I most definitely look up to her. Her new album drops on September 20 and I am so excited. She has only gotten better in this past year. And this song, just beautiful, inspirational and she sings it with such power.

It is a much watch! Enjoy :) 3 years ago

InkalinkJeff Buckley ~Hallelujah

Maybe there’s a God above
all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah

Just beautiful :) 3 years ago

InkalinkDon't Stop Me Now ~ Queen

This as of right now is my view on life:

I’m a shooting star leaping through the sky
Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity
I’m a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva
I’m going to go, go, go
There’s no stopping me

I’m young, free and enjoying every moment of it. I don’t want to worry about anything. Stress is stress and every time I hear this song I find myself singing a long as loud as possible while pretending to be a child again. I remember the long car rides with my father and the wind in my hair, or the awkward dances in high school with the boys whose names are better kept in the past. I remember the first day of college, my graduation and to this day I will always remember my best friend and I sitting on her roof belting Queen songs, all the while giggling and drinking the wine stolen from her kitchen. And that has all lead me to this very moment, I sit here relaxing on my couch remembering these wonderful days and thinking. Don’t stop me now, because I am about to have myself a damn good time :) 3 years ago

InkalinkSwing Life Away ~Rise Against

There is nothing on this earth that calms me down more than my 2 best friends playing this song. With Jake’s quiet baritone mixing with the soft strums of the guitar my life was complete. I could sit forever listening, and even now when he is miles away from me just hearing that song causes a smile to appear. Not only is it a great memory for me but the lyrics are just brilliant.

I’ve got some friends, some that I hardly know
But we’ve had some times, I wouldn’t trade for the world
We chase these days down with talks of the places that we will go

Just beautiful, this is a feeling I know well. One that I love, and appreciate more than anything. I think I am going to go call Jake and beg him to sing to me :) 3 years ago

InkalinkElvis Costello ~ Allison

This song, is catchy and when listening you begin humming along and the next thing you know you are singing along. I first heard it when I was younger and I do not know how to explain it but I loved it. I believe there is something in the way Costello sings it that is so heartfelt. The words, the tune, the feelings, the simple actions explained and sung cause my own heart to break as I listen. Its truly and amazing song, by a great artist. 3 years ago

InkalinkMissy Higgins Where I Stood

This song is beautiful. Whenever I listen not only do I appreciate the voice I am listening too, but the feeling that is evoked within me is something I adore. I hear a woman broken about the fact that she has to let the man she loves go, knowing, however that it is for the best. I listen to this song and I feel myself being washed over with her silent apology to herself. She is telling herself that it will be okay, that everything will be better. I cannot even pinpoint a favorite lyric. I love the entire song! 3 years ago

veronicaaaaaaaa10) Soar by Christina Aguilera...

I can’t believe this wasn’t the very first song I thought about when I created this goal. I know it’s Christina Aguilera and it’s a bunch of cheesy pop nonsense… But this song is truly amazing. There is absolutely no better song to listen to when you’re down and don’t want to get back up. I don’t care what anyone.. this is like hands down the most uplifting song in the world. 3 years ago
