I stayed up until 3 am this morning finishing A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. It was recommended to me by one of the No Kidding members. Well worth the time.

I like the “I actually want to read” part of this goal. My to-be-read shelf takes up an entire bookcase. I went through and weeded out books that have been there for a very long time and ones that I’m realistically never going to read.
Now I just have to find time for the ones that made the cut.
Started med school this year, and it’s put a fairly tight limit on what I do with my free time (which is now usually spent sleeping). So my goal of reading more of the books I want to read has been pushed a wee bit out of reach for the next while. Though I could give up sleep..
This, of course, is a never ending goal, but I have made great inroads, becoming more familiar with our local public library than I ever thought possible. We’re also blessed with a wonderful (free) interlibrary loan program. If you are working on this goal and short on cash/stuck for a place to get the books you want to read, see if your library has an interlibrary loan program in place.
Hazel E.M. has returned!
I’m reading “The Golden Bough” at the moment. Slow going.
Finally some time for books I enjoy. Also this is a time to read entertainment and/or trash because I get more than enough of the intellectual stuff at school, which I like, but you’ve got to have a break. I mean really. You can’t be Grapes of Wrath and The Awakening all the time.
I loved this book. It was a wonderful light read that I really needed as a break from all the school and work crap that’s been going on. I highly recommend it. I’m about to get the 2nd and 3rd in the series, Second Helpings and Charmed Thirds.
I have a NON-COURSE book to read! ‘The Mabinogion’ – arrived by post yesterday. Very exciting. Just need to finish this essay first…..
Today I was in my favourite libraries, so the tower became much higher, but only with books I have to read…
