My girlfriend and I have recently begun reading at home together. It is bringing us together spiritually. We read each day, a chapter from the old testament and one from the new. We started at the beginning of each.
How to read my Bible more
How I did it: Started with 2 minutes a day. Then 5. Then 10. Then 30.
Started fitting it into my life rather than figuring out how to make my life fit into it (like instead of getting up earlier I now read on the bus some days if I'm really busy. Mostly I just read at night because that's when I'm not concentrating on other things & can really get into it.)
Got a "Read The Bible In 1 Yr." Devotional Bible & it helps immensely.
Am currently reading the bible in a year by only reading 3 chapters a day. Nice to switch it up a bit.
Lessons & tips: If you need a schedule, write one. Devotional books help & save time one deciding where & what to read. Also help you dig deeper. Break it up into smaller bits at first so you don't get overwhelmed.
Switch it up!! I get bored...I have lots of different references so I'm always getting something new.
It takes 6 weeks to make a new habit & break an old habit. KEEP AT IT!! When you skip; start over again from scratch...otherwise all the skipping adds up & you think you failed; when that's just a lie. :)

I have not been doing this. I admit it.
HOWEVER…
The Stake Presidency has challenged everyone in the Tampa Stake to read The Book of Mormon in its entirety by October 29th. And I HAVE been keeping up with that. I read one chapter a day, EVERY day, and I’m already feeling the blessings that come from daily scripture reading. So I’m going to keep this goal on here, and hopefully when I finish the B.O.M., I’ll still have the resolve to read the Bible the same way. :)

Found podcasts on Itunes for reading bible in a year. I subscribed to a couple of them and will listen in my car during my commute.
Since my last entry, I have successfully incorporated reading the Word into my morning routine. I read each morning (except Saturday). I get my Word on Sunday from church. Morning by morning, new mercies I see.
Stopped reading for a little. I can do it if I put it in my morning routine. I will start this tomorrow!
I am in my Bible more often these days. It’s not everyday, but it’s much better. I am blessed to be the sponsor of a Christian club at my school and hope to participate in a couple of Bible studies at church soon. Staying in the Word is the only way to safely navigate this crazy world!

Two weeks ago we had a bible study for the youth at our church, and I was surprised to find I knew more than everyone else there. The adults were surprised too, because I stopped going to Sunday School when I was like 9. It was funny how although all the other kids went to Sunday School, I still knew way more than they did, because I took time to read it on my own. And after the bible study, I realized how much I enjoy reading The Bible, its a really relaxing way to end the day, and I’m tired of my own excuses not to read it! :)
Ballatrina is at work
I’ve now got the Message translation of the Bible, which is much easier to read and understand than the regular versions, even the NIV, so I really have no excuse now!
I just need to get some kind of reading plan in order…

It’s so much easier to read my Bible when I’m Episcopalian! I guess that, for me, my former church was toxic. I’m not very consistent every day yet, but I’m getting there. I love the Psalms!
