When I became pregnant with my son, I met this girl online who was also pregnant and her boyfriend was stationed at the same military post as mine was. We turned out to have a lot in common and were living just down the street from one another. Her SO deployed and she moved back with her family, then my husband got stationed at another post, so we both moved away before meeting. Recently I made a trip back home to visit my family and she and I finally met up. My son and her daughter got to have a playdate and we got to enjoy some adult conversation.

Many ways to meet 15 months ago

Be careful, take your time. I’ve made friends with several smart and funny women who I meet for coffee or dinner regularly. It can be a great way to make new friends in your local area – you find people who have similar interests. I’ve also dated guys I’ve met online and they were fairly normal. ;) I’m dating one right now. :) We learned a lot about each other before we met, and we are still taking our time as we continue getting to know each other. This is almost a year later. It has to do with the type of site, as well as using common sense. Seriously, take your time. If something feels too fast, put your brakes on. All relationships take time and the internet does not change that. If you feel more comfortable going with a friend or two to meet the new person, do that. The unknown can be dangerous. Always make sure you have a safe way out, and at the very least someone (good friend or family member) knows where you are and who you are going to be with and is waiting for you to “check in” at a certain time. Take precautions to be safe.

a blessing and a curse 15 months ago

i dated a guy (we moved in together, it wasnt an “online relationship”) i met online for a year and a half, and yes, we’re still friends. it is possible, but its something you cant really go looking for… it just somehow will come to you.
to anyone attempting this… be careful, just like in real life, there are creeps, freaks, and just down right baaaaad people out there, and online they can seem like kings or queens. trust your instincts.
best of luck to all who attempt this…. go forward and prosper.

... I’ve been chatting to a guy for 8 months now, and tonight we’re gonna talk on the phone for the very first time. I’m really excited and nervous and happy all at once! And even though we’ve not met in real life yet, I already know that he is gonna be a great friend to me for years to come.

Not Really Something You Expect 2 years ago

It’s a random thing to happen, but sometimes there is that distinct click that even without voice or presense they make you smile, happy and help your life. Someone you wouldn’t hesitate to meet..it’s a great thing

the Internet is a great thing 2 years ago

I’ve met real friends from online, some of the best I’ve ever had. Its a great way to find people you could get along with that you might never meet otherwise.
