Despite wanting to move by the end of summer, I think the wisest thing might be to wait another year, just so I have enough money saved and so I can pay down some of my debt with the lower cost of living advantage I have here. I really, really don’t want to do this and for some reason I can’t picture myself staying here another year, so I guess if it’s meant to be that I move, that’s what’s going to happen instead. But regardless, the plan right now is to stay with my new job and hopefully transfer to their nyc location in a year or whenever possible. I also have a backup plan, but at least I have a path I can follow, finally. Great things come to those who wait right? Even if it’s been way too long and I’m really eager to re-start my life there. Sigh.

    Sigh... 6 months ago

It’s really frustrating knowing I only have two months left on my lease here in Pittsburgh and I was supposed to have left by then and I don’t have nearly enough money to do so. School was fun, but it definitely didn’t leave me enough free time to work enough to save up a lot of money.
I already have a place to stay in nyc, but I’m practical enough to know that even if I get a job before I move, I still need some money saved for moving expenses, food, bill money/student loan payments before I’d get my first paycheck. Now that’s more money than you’d think it would be, but nyc is an expensive city and I have a lot of bills. My only options are to stay another year and definitely have enough $ or just say screw having money and just leave as soon as I have a job there. I’m just getting so restless here…maybe as soon as I have enough I could leave and pay rent in both cities? It would be so worth it…

So I spent almost all of my savings for moving due to not being able to find a second job that fit my hectic schedule. I increased my hours at my regular job to be able to pay my bills and then as soon as this next semester is over, I’m going to have to work at least two jobs to make it out of here on time. I know I can do it! I’m aiming to sign a May lease there and to use my security deposit on this apartment during that month to not get out of the lease early here. Sounds like a plan!

I’m almost positive that I’m going to move back after graduation next fall. As long as I can get all of the classes I need and I don’t fail any, I should be fine. I’m also using the remaining loan money from school on saving up for the move, minus the outrageous cost of books. I just need to figure out how long I need to stay in Pgh after graduation so my living arrangements don’t get all screwed up. My lease is up in May, which could complicate things if I have to renew for another year..

If I decide to go into publishing for sure, it will force me to go back and that is a very, very good thing. I have the option of moving to NYC, Chicago, Miami or San Diego and I’d really like to try NYC first and then if that fails, move elsewhere.
I’m thinking maybe the best step to take towards moving back, would be to get an internship this summer there and then see if any jobs are available at that company after I graduate. I’ll only have one semester after this summer before that happens anyways.
I just don’t want to move back without any job options. I’m not that brave anymore. :(

I declare this: DONE. 2 years ago

It only took… three years (plus almost 3 months) but it’s done. Job, apartment, boxes packed and all.

    DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE.

    How awesome is that?

Looks like this is going to have to wait another year. :(
My boyfriend wants to move with me and he doesn’t want to quit his job until next year so he has enough time to save up. I need to save up as well, but I wanna move now! haha
