be an adult but never a grown-up

In my heart I will always be under the age of 13. Sometimes 3, sometimes 8, and even sometimes 6. But never ever over 13.

All these years I shed like layers. I don’t need or want them. Shed and peel them off to be who I really am.

I will never change. I am who I am.

Silly putty and playdough, laughing at the rain and kicking the sky on the swing, making up songs as I skip down the street, barefoot dances, climbing trees to taste forever, coloring books and scary stories, tickling tummies and sleep overs, bright eyes and wonder. Worm and snail hunts after rain.
