Decided against buying a suit 1 month ago

after talking to a friend who did get hired. She didn’t wear a suit, she wore a collared shirt and a sweatervest. That is definitely not my style, but a collared shirt and a blazer or cardigan might do. I just can’t afford a new suit. I don’t know how I thought I’d manage to buy one.

It’s not a good thing to put on my credit card either, if I were spending that much money on something it really should be something I’d use more often (cost-per-wear). Still, if I happen on a suit that I could easily wear as separates, I’ll consider it.

    OK, 2 months ago

I think I need a suit. For potential interviews. Not that I have any interviews lined up, I’m just saying…

And a more “professional” haircut. Professional in quotes because my hair is not and will never be sleek and well-groomed looking. My hair is a bit frizzled these days so I need to lose 3 inches, maybe more. Haircut will be on Tuesday.

Shopping for suits is such a massive pain in the butt. Sometimes the top fits, sometimes the bottom, more often neither fit properly, whichever size I try on. Apparently I have the so-called ideal body type (long and lean perhaps a little too long), so why is it that nothing fits?

    Step 1: Buy a suit
    Step 2: Get it adjusted
Step 3: Buy a couple of blouses.

Luckily I already have the shoes and handbag. Well, I might need different shoes. Apparently teaching interviews require a mid-height heel, not a high one.

    Skinny jeans 2 months ago

Ha – I tried on skinny jeans the other day – first time I’ve attempted it well, first time since 1989, at least.

Well, I got them on, then I started doing weird fake karate side kicks – I couldn’t help it, I felt like I’d stuffed my legs into sausage casings.
Oddly enough, the jeans looked fine, but I just couldn’t handle the tight calves!!! I would’ve tried a bigger size, but they didn’t have one, ha ha ha. It was quite the experience.

I finally found the fuchsia shoes I have been wanting for ages. AND they were extremely on sale. (Yes I know I am pale. Yes I do glow in the dark slightly.)

    Round 1 3 months ago

I got it coloured darker, but it’s not dark enough – barely noticeable. So he’s going to fix it tomorrow morning :-)

This is kind of 3 months ago

    what I’m thinking, color-wise.

Obviously not this length – it’s a bit much! But hmmm, I’m starting to think that a bit darker would be even better. The colour will fade out pretty quickly anyway.

I’ve been worried about going too dark, but when I think of it – both my parents have dark hair, so that should mean I can get away with it too. the only problem is my blonde eyebrows – they’re even lighter than my natural hair.

that’s one reason I want to keep some streaks of my natural colour as “highlights” – hopefully it will help my light eyebrows look less weird next to dark hair.

I got a chance to dress up today 3 months ago

including a dress, dramatic makeup, and smooth elegant hairdo – and got many compliments from friends.

I do really wish I could find those perfect black Sandals I have been looking for, but nothing found yet!

Considering a new hair colour 3 months ago

    Darker hair?

My hair is a weird colour. Sometimes it looks blonde, sometimes brown, sometimes almost reddish, depending on the light. The problem is that the actual colour is very nondescript, and because I am pale, it makes my skin look washed out.

So I’m thinking of going darker, which will be more dramatic. And I’d probably leave a few streaks on top in my natural colour so it’d look like highlights (and look less stripey if it grows out a bit between salon visits).

This picture (minus the black eyes) is sort of what I had in mind…

I can’t really find any good examples online…

I must have looked glamorous yesterday 4 months ago

because 3 men said “Hi” to me as I was roaming around town.

Not bad results for simply throwing on a feminine skirt, a bold necklace and some movie-star sunglasses :-)
