I have been finally waking up at 7-8am daily, more by someone forcing me to wake me up than anything else, but it’s working. My biological clock gives me a shake at those times in the morning, even though I still need the sleep. I think that after constantly waking up like this, I’m going to finally be able to wake up a lot easily now. :) And I get so many things done when I wake up that early, it’s great!

I’ve actually been doing pretty well on this one. The structure of having a job does wonders. I know that not sleeping in is a big deal for me, that by not sleeping in all the time I am really really improving the quality of my life. I have to stick to it.

I went to bed at 4:30 am last night [not completely my fault ;)] so I woke up at 10:30. Right now I am exhausted. I forced myself to go to the library because I know I would go back to sleep and probably not waike up til… oh 4 or 5 o clock. and the 6 hours I did sleep were interrupted by coughing spasms. feels like i pulled an all nighter… I think I shoulsd couple this goal with going to bed earlier… which seems to be a life-long struggle for me.

College screws up one’s sleep schedule. It’s simple. It’s inevitable. I’ve accepted that I need to to take naps during the day, that I will be up at the most ridiculous hours of the night, and that I will try to compensate by sleeping in later when I can. It’s not ideal, but it works.



5 am morning prayer 2 years ago

i’ve started gettting up and having my time that i spend reading the bible and talking with God be in the morning at my church… so 5am is my new wake up call… life is amazing!

i can not believe how much more i get done when i wake up before noon:) lol… the real break through came when i decided i needed a reason to get up early! between journaling, work, writing and my art i have lots of reasons to be up at dawn!



Taking a firm stance. 3 years ago

I am so, so, SO totally getting up early tomorrow. It is a travesty that my only reason for getting up lately has been to watch Dr. Phil. So tomorrow I am getting up before 7. And I’m going to be firm with my inner 3-year old, who doesn’t much like being awakened by anyone, including myself. Like, for every minute I lay around thinking about getting up, I have to wait another hour to eat. The starvation tactic has worked in the past, especially if I leave a post-it on my glasses and that’s the first thing I am forced to see in the morning.

Tomorrow, I conquer melatonin. Self, be afraid!

And after I wake up, I’m going to do something about the schizophrenia and the constant conversing with myself, since those are not generally considered attractive qualities.

Ahahaha. I am doing so badly with this goal it’s laughable.

This morning I think I set the world record for least amount of time needed to get ready. I woke up at 7:40, swore a bit, threw on my clothes, ran into the bathroom for less than a minute, grabbed my books, dashed madly across campus, and made it to class by 7:50, relatively unscathed but still fairly disoriented. It was a thing of beauty; I even managed to avoid being hit by any cars.

Okay, so my sleep schedule is screwed up. It’s not going to be fixed anytime soon, with finals coming up and all. I guess I can wait until summer to try and regain control. Oi.

i want to wake up at 9am (nearly) everyday for two months and then i will consider this goal accomplished!
