When I was younger (so much younger than today) I made a clock in my woodworking class. I still have it and I love it, only the hands get stuck around 10 minutes to 11 o’clock. It still ticks and everything and the second hand works, it just gets stuck.
I finally pulled out my trusty copy of Smart Shopping Mtl and found that there’s a clock repair shop, not too far from me (it seems)
5895 avenue Victoria, Snowdon (corner de la Peltrie)
Tel 514-731-8029
Mon-Wed 9-6 Thurs-Fri 9-8 Sat 9-5
(for my future reference)
I should at least go in and get them to do a quote for me. Let’s see how much it would cost to get repaired.
EDIT: I don’t usually keep it on my desk, but I just realized how nice it looks here. Even though it means I have two clocks a stone’s throw from each other.

So I’ve decided to try out a modified version of the list that Trent mentioned the other day
So, I’m going to make a list of 30 things that I want to get done. When I have time to do something, I’ll scan the list, then choose one of these things. If I leave “a page” of 30 things and I haven’t done anything towards one of those 30, then I’ll scrap all 30 of them, because they obviously were not priorities or things that I currently feel compelled to do.
I’m not sure how I”m going to write entries for these and keep the list at the top so that I can see it all the time, but I’m just going to go with it for now as we’ll see how it all works out.
1-CHECK Clean off the back porch (May 11th-done for me :D)
2- Mend or get rid of the (the now MUCH smaller) pile of clothes to be repaired
3- Talk to the landlord
4- Buy the edging for the bookshelf I assembled backwards.
5- Finish my mini photo album with captions.
6- Book that hot stone massage.
7- (Added May 23rd) Get my clock repaired

I actually took another baby step in my mending pile. I repaired a fairly new pair of pants, by sewing the sides and strengthening the internal button.
Yay! Now I only have the REST of the pile to do :(

It’s just brilliant! Remember how I was talking about feeling guilty about not doing stuff that no longer was a priority Well this system solves that problem. Found it an article on why most time management techniques are rubbish and ones that actually work for Trent
From the TSD article:
One great method for doing this is Mark Forster’s Autofocus system, which he’s discussed in various forms in his books. It’s pretty simple, actually: you just keep a project list in a college-lined notebook, one project per line. When you finish one, cross it off. When you fill up a page, keep adding projects to the next one. Then, when you’re ready to tackle something, start going through the notebook, browsing all the tasks until you find one you want to do. If you go through a whole page without tackling any projects on it, tear out the page and throw it away since the tasks left on it are ones you aren’t really compelled to do.
The actual article goes more into depth about the science of why it works a little bit, but the idea is that it’s simply a brilliant concept. Should be required reading for us mini goal / to do type goal setters.
I suppose I could do an online version of it, limit the list to 30 items on 43T. I could still write my blurb about why it’s important to me, but keep the list at the top. Hmm, food for thought.

I just read this bit from WishCraft that prompted me to add this to the list:
Ask the landlord to:
Loosen the facet in the bathroom
Fix the fact that the shower leaks cold water
Fix that bit of edging
For me:
Buy the edging for my bookshelf that I didn’t do properly.

I’m moving this list here so that I can complete my ‘move’ goal. I won’t be able to do any of these for a while, need to get a landline sorted first. We’re getting our post forwarded for 3 months, so I have plenty of time to do this.

So I sat down today and started working on my photo project whilst my computer was defragging, which took longer than I expected of course. I managed to get all the photos in the frames and I’m starting to put them on the wall. You’ll remember the original look and here’s a picture of the progress so far.
I think it’s a huge difference :D

I just had a thought. I could see about trying to make “framed art prints” for my doll house, maybe out of stamps? I just had a brain flash, but I think that it’s a brilliant idea :D

As I already mentioned, but wanted to file here too, I found this double sided foamy tape so that I can hang up my pictures
So far I’ve spent 60$ on the frames, but I want to pick up a couple more so that I can expand if the need arises without worrying if IKEA will still have the frames.
The tape was 5$/roll and I picked up 4x, we’ll see if that will be enough or too much, but it’s what the lady at Reno suggested.
However I thought that it was going to be something really MUCH more expensive than that, that’s why I think I put it off for so long. I really love how things just come together and work :)
I’m so excited about taking steps to finish this project. I’ve still got more pictures to put into frames and I captioned some of them in the wrong direction so I have to fix a couple, but I’m getting there. I can’t wait to post the final result, it’s going to look SOO much better than just plain pictures tacked to the wall, plus they were always driving me nuts, forever falling. Yay!
