How to get good grades in college
It made me

"Getting good grades is more about doing things smart than being smart."
How I did it: Through lots of trial and error! As a college professor, I see so many students who could be getting better grades if they only followed some easy tips! I've listed some of them below, but most of them are really common sense. If nothing else - tip #1 is the most important!!
Lessons & tips: My top 10 tips:
1 - Go to class every day. It is WAY harder to flunk a class if you show up every day. Seriously. If you NEED to miss class - contact your professor IMMEDIATELY. BEFORE class if at all possible.
2 - Sit near the front. Especially if it is a boring class. Makes it much harder to fall asleep, and the professor is more likely to notice you - yes, that's a good thing.
3 - Get help before you need it. Have trouble in math or english? Get a tutor before the class even starts. Odds are your college offers "free" tutoring services that your fees already pay for.
4. - Make studying a job. Yes, that means 40 scheduled hours a week, but do it in a smart way - get up early (you have to for a job anyway) and study in the morning. Use all your time to study between classes. If you study (and go to class) 9-4 Monday-Friday, and study from 9-12 on Saturday and Sunday (am or pm) - that leaves most of the weekend and all your evenings to do whatever you want!
5. All things in moderation - Going out and having fun is great - but what's the point in getting so drunk you can't remember the fun you had? And just because the cafeteria is an all-you-can-eat buffet - don't take that as a challenge.
6. Join a club - preferably one related to your major. Not just a resume builder but a gold mine of information. Good place to find out about teachers/classes to avoid, or how to get through them if you can't avoid them.
7. Keep a calendar - The first week of class, write down all your assignments from all your syllabi in one calendar. Better to find out then that you have 3 midterms in one week. Much better than finding out the weekend before.
8. Read - or at least skim - the book. Trust me, your nonverbals really DO show the professor if you've read the book or not. Even if you just skim it you'll look brilliant compared to the majority of the class who didn't crack it. It will save your butt during test time as well.
9. Read the syllabus - carefully! The syllabus can tell you a lot about the class AND the professor. Know the consequences of missing classes or turning in assignments late BEFORE you do it! Otherwise it can be a nasty surprise!
10. Meet your professors IN their office. Yeah, I know. We're the big bad wolf and no one wants to come see us. It is important though. If you meet the professor it shows you are serious about the class. Also helps out when the emergency happens (which it will - think strep throat or swine flu). Way more comfortable to contact your professors if you already know them - and they know you!

last year I messed up, quite badly too!
I’m knuckling down this year and it seems to be paying off. I just need to find a way to stick at it.
It’s as a japanese proverb goes:

fall down 7, get up 8 (or) 7times down, 8 times up
Something I try to remember if I ever get knocked back…
Last year I messed up, this year I’m doing well. With the results from this year I should definately be ahead of where I was last year. :) hopefully

The final grades are in so here it is

HNRS 110-CR
MATH 205 (Applied Calculus)-B (And I thought that I’d be barely scraping by in this class… Not too shabby, aye?
GPA: 3.25
Next semester I need to get my act together though, I will be taking 20 credits, including Spanish.

and everything else is Bs. My gpa is currently a 2.97 sigh back to square one… Thanks a lot physics 1.
2nd semester

I thought I did really bad this semester but somehow I ended up with a 3.6. Now my cumulative gpa is a 3.55. I’m so excited.
I have two classes for six weeks starting Monday. I’m gonna work towards a 4.0.
