I just finished chapter 14 yesterday, and I’m near the middle of the book, so there’s hope for finishing somewhat soon if I can keep up reading a chapter (or half of a chapter) a night before I go to bed. I seriously love this and I saw the sequel (Cosette, by another author, I don’t remember who) at the library the other day, so I have something to look forward to after finishing.

but for now… it’s a bit unnecessary, with all the academic books related to my major that i SHOULD be reading.

I bought the book in two volumes, by some éditions folio or whatever. It costed me some $$ but I figured it was then or never.
I started reading it on the bus. It was frustrating because I didn’t have a dictionary at hand to look up some of the words but I got the jist of it so far.

I have found out I was successful at my audition for this show. I suppose now I’d better read the book to get a better understanding of it.

I’ve loved the musical ever since I first saw it, then I was in a production of it. I don’t want to read it in French, but I think my dad’s got a copy somewhere. It’s so huge! I’ll have to read it when I’m on holidays, or at least not studying, because otherwise how would I get any work done?

Last month, I didn’t think I would be able to finish this book. Today, I feel compelled to write that this was a journey. As I neared the last 200 pages of the book, I could not let go of the book as I felt for the first time that words were greater than pictures. I could vividly feel the emotions of the characters as well as the intensities. I can truly say that this was the most moving book I’ve ever read. When I had finished reading, I could not help but look at the title and agree. Tears fell from my eyes towards the end, and again it was a new experience for me as a book had never caused tear to glisten in my eyes.
Don’t give up reading this book. It’s a masterpiece for a reason. You won’t regret it.

I love the story, but one thing I seem to get stuck on are those histories… of waterloo, of france, etc.. On the 800th page and once again “history of…” Because seriously there are parts in the book when they talk about Marius when I’m just totally immersed into the book, but the histories just stump me. Anyone else agree? I’m going to try to finish it, though.

I’ve actually read it 3 times (unabridged) over the years and I don’t generally read for enjoyment. It is very good and well worth the time.
Enjoy!

I’ve finished reading FANTINE.. I’ve actually been reading it over the school break, but I didn’t want to start over from the beginning, so I picked up from where I left off 6 months ago.. I bet you I’ll continue it this summer (sigh)
