Having never ventured out of my country, and what with all the vivid portrayals of ireland in the media, I have to go and live there for a while. And maybe go out with an irish girl while I’m at it!
How to live in ireland
How I did it: When I was little I wanted to visit Ireland, because I was obsessed with Riverdance/Lord Of The Dance and did Irish Dancing etc. When I was 14 my parents applied fo our families Irish citizenship, and then decided to move to Limerick because my mum wanted to study Midwifery somewhere where she could still work. I finished my schooling there, which was... an experience...
Lessons & tips: Don't live in Limerick, go to Cork. Visit there first.
Resources: Having a parent who has Irish citizenship is quite handy...

I’m from Lancashire, England, but Ireland is everything to me.
my forefathers came from Donegal & Armagh. I want to raise my family in Ireland, so they can appreciate their rich heritage.
We’re a large ethnic minority in Britain & The USA- like the great Afro-Carribean and Jewish populations. We (the Irish) should be proud of our culture wherever we’re from.
John Lydon, The Beatles, Morrissey, Billy Connelly, Tom Waits, Dropkick Murphys, Shane MacGowan, Robert DeNiro, Woody Guthrie, Steve Coogan, John Steinbeck, Bill Clinton, John F Kennedy, Spike Milligan… even Barack Obama! They’re all IRISH!
Ever since I was a wee tot I’ve wanted to go to Ireland and buy a big castle to live in.

my family has roots in the northwest of ireland, im very proud of my heritage- i plan to move there when i finish university
I’m half Irish, half English, and I’ve had to live in England most of my life. I’d much prefer to be back in Ireland, and that’s my long term goal – I’m being realistic about it, I’m 21 now, I plan on being settled there by the time I’m 30. That gives me chance to settle some health problems I need to see to, save up money, source up work, and relocate.
I’m not entirely sure where yet – I have a few thoughts in mind, I’m drawn to Cork but Dublin’s an option, though I know with them being cities they’re expensive. God knows, I might be married or something mad by then, that makes all the difference!
I’ve been to Ireland a few times, most recently October 2007. I love it there, and feel very comfortable. The locals are friendly and the pubs are great. A plus is that I don’t have to work there. Where I work doesn’t have to be where I live, since I make a living on merchant ships.
I lived there in college and a few years after. The best time of my life. Get a work permit while you’re still a student, then get a good job when you get there! Screw working in a pub unless you want to live the life of an illegal alien.
I’ve lived in ireland all of my life (16 years)! i absolutely LOVE it!
I’ve been to so many other countires in the world but i just love ireland. It’s so beautiful over here and i wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the whole world!!
wooo! Slan go foil! :-)
