How to appreciate my family
How I did it: Completely by accident.
This goal has been on my list for a bit, and it was taking its place as a lower priority. Today, however, in my Russian class, my instructor showed us the video below and randomly emphasized how very important family life is. She said, "without family, and without love, we simply can't exist."
Perhaps it's too simple, but this video really drove home the message that we need to be there for each other equally and understand the greatness of what is done for us.

It's in Russian, but there are subtitles in English :)

After all, it’s your family. What family is every always appreciative of all the rest? But since putting up this goal about a year ago, I feel that overall, I stress out a lot less about the things my family is up to and just enjoy them a lot more. Where it’s their business, I try to remember that it is precisely that, and that I can only worry about me. In my family, with our particular quirks, that happens to work :)
i have started doing this and trust me its working wonders for me as well as my family,,,maybe next week when i totally get there i will tick this off….....

as we cleaned stuff in my parents’ packed basement.
But on a good note, my sister and I rode up together and had plenty of time to discuss all the money issues, family issues, etc. that no one else seems to get. AND she joined 43T!! So I’m looking forward to her entries :)
Christmas really helped.
I officially appreciate them. No matter how crazy they are.

by leaving while still in good spirits. I wanted to stay longer, but it was getting late and I was feeling that at any moment my patience might expire. So I smiled, hugged, and left, happy and satisfied, and with a memory to treasure.

We had country style ribs this weekend. It was a nice visit – they had done a lot more than normal to get ready for us coming up to visit. We had a good talk around the table while DS and I made shrinky dinks (tee hee). That turned out to be a good activity because we could work on it while talking or while not talking and not be bored or in any way need to find something to do. :)

. . . especially my parents. My mom and dad raised us to be intelligent, kind, independent people. They have some issues and habits that frustrate me, and many times I’m too critical. I’d like to get away from that. I really have led a charmed life, largely due to their skillful parenting, and need to remember so.
