Sammie is reading the 43 Things book
How I did it: I ordered the book from fishpond.com.au because it worked out cheaper here in Australia. Fishpond also take PayPal, so the purchase was really easy. The book is great. It's small format, but very thick and feels very substantial in your hand. There are so many ideas in there that I think it will take me a while to go through the whole book. While it's probably true that most of the content can be found on the site, I really love that I can… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I ordered the book online with just a few clicks. I then waited for its delivery. Opening it was a pita because it was very securely wrapped.A smallish book it was easy to slip in my pocket or purse enabling me to easily carry & read snippets where ever I had time. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I purchased the book on amazon after being inspired by others here. The book is in some ways a novelty....it in no way replaces 43things, but to have on my coffee table, yes! To give as presents, yes! To inspire future goals....yes! It is so small and portable, very cute little book.... not so much a "reading book" as more of a "reference book." Read how I did it…

I bought it a while back from Amazon. I also ordered two other, more substantive books at the same time so have kept this one to read last. I’ve gotten a few chapters in and I’m really enjoying it.
I’m a big list lover and I love how they have the goals all divided into 43 categories. It’s great fodder for thinking about your own goals and how they might be tweaked. There area some great ideas and quotes included too.
I also loved the “Ten Rules for Creating and Conquering Your Life List.” I think I saw these same rules or something similar in blog post form from one of the Robots a year or two ago.
I’ll mark this goal complete as I’ve made the purchase, and I look forward to reading the rest. Thank you to the Robots!!
to put this baby on hold for a little while. I’ll come back to it, but other things require my attention right now.
Jessica Steelers FTW!
I was at Borders last night and I happened to see the book. There was only 1 left on the shelf.

So far I’ve been pretty impressed with it. Sure as some have pointed out before it contains very little if anything that is not already online but it is very well ordered by category so it should be easier when looking for ideas of new goals. I’m also starting to wonder how long it will be till somebody creates a goal to have completed at least one goal from each of the 43 chapters from the 43 things book.
Ash~ sing freely here comes the sun!
I picked up a copy at Schuler’s and read the whole thing in an hour. Quite an easy and inspiring read! I loved hearing everyone’s stories and the quotes from every chapter. Some of them I remember reading from some of my first eyeing here. I’m definitely going to be looking at some of the goals featured.
Along with Frannie and Ru, I do wish they spoke more about the people that built this community. While our goals are our purpose for being here, I still think the people that reside here everyday are what makes it so great, and has what made the website what it is.
Cheers to you, my fellow 43thingers!

I waited until I was ordering something else from Amazon so I could get free shipping, then I added it to my cart. If only all my goals were so simple to achieve! :D
I can’t wait to read it!

(Strangely, I had this on my list and it mysteriously vanished. I didn’t notice until I went to check it off and it wasn’t there.)
Today I popped into Chapters to pick up a few things with a gift certificate, and there it was, right next to the book I’d gone in for. Even more fun was opening it to a totally random page and seeing a quote from my daily happiness list there! I snapped it up, and it made for a very quick read indeed. I even found another post (from when I made truffles).
I wish it had more quotes and stories, and (as Frannie posted) more about the community here – the people have always been one of the major draws for me, but I think the book will be great for inspiring new goals, and I may pick a few of the ones listed myself…
I went to Barnes and Noble on Friday. I couldn’t decide whether to get this book or something for my nephew (a different goal). Before going to the Children’s section, I found this on a table, I think with things like how to keep your resolutions….I took it as a sign that I should get it.
The intro starts with “Remember your 3rd grade self?” Ironic that it starts that way – that is EXACTLY when my life turned inward, when I started feeling isolated and lost. But that’s another story…. Anyway, I think the intro is very good with 1 minor quibble (sorry ‘Bots).
You do a great job talking about the tangible benefits of writing goals, sharing life lists and you mention the site connects you “to new networks of serendipitous support”. And that’s all you say. I don’t believe you stress how critical and special that support is.Yes, it’s inspiring that you see others accomplish goals and realize you can do it too. But it’s so much more.
The “neighborhood” of friends on 43T supports, cheers, hugs, argues, sympathizes, laughs, cries, yells and everything in between. We make each other think and share thoughts, thoughts we didn’t know we had. Whether it’s politics (I learned so much during the recent election), gratitudes or what our cell phone ring tone is, there is a freedom on 43T that allows us to dream, allows us to think we can do things that alone, we’d never imagine. That’s what makes 43T so special…at least to me.
So, ‘Bots, thank you for the site and thank you for the book. I’m hoping it’ll help me pick what “new and fulfilling” thing to do this month…or maybe help me “get in touch with my inner child” next month.
