some maps from worldatlas.com and keep them with my books so that between classes or when I get home from work, they are right where I will see them. I’m also going to print blank maps and test myself by filling in names of nations and bodies of water.
kellgo sick today..... ugh :(
I bought a book about geography yesterday and every couple of days I take a gander at my world map. I think a great way to learn geography would be to take a trip to various places on the planet… anyone care to fund it? ;)
Meaganoff needs to get some sleep!
Despite not really working on this, I do think I’m getting better. Jsut a side effect of being more aware of current events and politics. But I’m taking it off my list for now, since it’s just not a main focus.
Catachrest is feeling groovy
I’ve been thinking about when I can truthfully say “I’ve done this.” I’ve already improved it somewhat, but enough to mark it done? What I think I might do is create some ‘sub’ goals – learn all the state capitals of the states (I’m good for Canada), all the countries of africa, asia and south america, that sort of thing. Then when I can mark all those off, I’ll mark this one off.

I found on bbc.com a nice way of doing this:
PRI’s the World – Geo Quiz Podcast.
So mainly I wanted to work on learning the countries of Africa , and I’ve been actively working on this almost daily. So far so good. I’ve also been brushing up on Europe and Asia. Yay.
I downloaded 4 blank maps today for me to start filling in country names. I’ll do one map this week.
pcyclepath is making progress :)
So now I know where most countries are, the name of their capitals and can identify many flags as well… Also know the location of some major rivers and bodies of water. I feel I’ll need to revise this from time to time but I’m happy to take this off my list.
there’s a mac program i downloaded from the apple site called World of Where. it helped a lot. it was easy and fun to do (and i have a short attention span, so this speaks volumes). also, it’s free. could you find any excuse to not give it a try?
