How I did it: I always wanted to play the violin, it seemed proffesional and cool. So I did. I started taking lessons and attending orchestras. Sometimes I was even chosen to perform in concerts! Since I joined an orchestra, I made friends there, and we hung out together regularly and practiced together. We played many duets, and showed them off to other friends and family. It was exciting, and we always looked forward to it every day after school. We … Read how I did it…

How I did it: I joined a community orchestra and downloaded Suzuki lesson books and started learning on my own. Now 2 months into it, I have learned basic techniques and I can play songs that I want (not complex classical pieces!), and that's good enough to make me happy... since I don't intend to be a concert violinist or anything like that. If you're a total newbie and this is your first instrument, I recommend getting a teacher. Having had mu… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I started taking classes when I was around six and picked it up really fast. I've been playing for 13 years now and have performed with loads of different orchestras and competed around the country. It's a great skill to have and it really is fun and I loved knowing I was good at something growing up. Huge confidence booster! You meet some great people through music. Read how I did it…
How I did it: well in fith grade i took up the violin and took orchrestra through school. its kinda like learning another language, you have to learn to read notes, get the beats down, and just have fun! ;D haha for people who aren't in school and want to play the violin, some tips i would have is to take lessons and to remember it will take some time to learn but once you do, you'll feel more confident in playing it and you'll learn more quickly and u… Read how I did it…

Two more hours to contribute to the 5,000 I’ve been told it takes to master the violin. A drop in the ocean, but bit by bit I’ll get this done. My improvisations are improving. I’m finding that my intonation is not too bad with the removal of my cheater tapes. It’s more ingrained that I had thought.

I removed my beginner’s “fret tapes” from my violin today. I guess I”m going to find out just how much I’ve learned about intonation…

JessicaLynnValentine is figuring out her life goals
well i have gotten like 3 e-mails so far and they all seem to be people suggesting the same violin teacher. i would do it but like its a chinese teacher AND its a guy. and if your wondering why i don’t want a chinese teacher its not that i’m racist but i had a 2 different chinese piano teachers when i was trying to learn piano and they teach in a weird way they pretty much just tried to get me to memorize songs and figured i would learn all the notes sooner or later. plus i want to know all the american terms for the violin like for piano b flat ect. and i don’t want to learn in do re mi fa do style I want to learn the A B C D E F G way so if i dont get any american people offering to teach violin i guess i could try out this chinese guy…

My mom put an add out on kunming swap (a email thing you can put adds in like looking for used tv and it gets sent out to any one else who has joined its email) well any ways she put an ad out for a flexible violin teacher cause my biggest rules in life are to keep fridays and saterdays as free as possible but since im trying to get school done, get a job, have time for friends, exersize and have time for me i want to be able to choose what day i get violin lessons so it wont interfere with my other things =)
JessicaLynnValentine is figuring out her life goals
1.I need to find a non-chinese violin teacher thats not to expensive.
2. find a place where i can practice the violin.
3. choose a good day to go and get violin lessons.
4. go to the place and practice violin 3 times a week.
5. after i get serious with violin buy my own violin so i can practice at home.
6. after i can play a few songs and read the violin notes and with the bow i will officially be able to play the violin =)
