Melanie Exam done - waiting for my result
When I started genealogy last month and went through my grandma’s house looking for information, which I could add to my family tree, I stumbled over some old photo albums. One of them was made by grandpa, who passed away in January 2008. It contained pictures of him when he was about 2 years old and then moved on until shortly after his wedding when he was around in his late 20’s. He wrote under every picture a comment, where the picture was made, the date, added random stuff like a postcard from the place he visited and wrote some of his own thoughts down. I’ve never known my grandpa in this pictures, as it was long before even my aunts, uncles and my mother were born. Also, my grandpa had been ill for as long as I can remember and this album showed me other sites of him I wasn’t even aware of he had! I think it would have been much fun to get to know my younger grandpa.
I found this photo album so fascinating that I decided to do something like that for my descendants – nevertheless, in more detail. We regard the time in where we live not as special and exciting as the past or the possibilities the future maybe holds for us. Still, our descendants might think different one day and would be glad to know something about the time we lived in and what kind of persons we were. In addition, it’s a lot of fun to create such an album :-)
