I’d post every dance that Rita Hayworth and Fred Astaire have done together, and I just might. This one is from ‘You Were Never Lovelier’ and the song is ‘I’m Old Fashioned’ by Jerome Kern and Johnny Mercer.

I saw the movie ‘Happy Go Lucky’ the other night, and there was this hilarious Flamenco scene in it. I went to a Flamenco recital this year and considered taking lessons, and I definitely would if the classes were like this.

Found this after reading comments about it in youtube. Its about Mia Michaels imagining a reunion with her father in Heaven about a month after his death. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p7jlzrQcM8 This should actually be in my favorite are list so I’ll put it there too for safe keepin. The important part for me is the celebration of play in their relationship. Important to play with your children, we have such a short time.

Looking at dance on YouTube and found this wonderful site timelapsedance.com and watched “water” from Dance of the elements. Went off on a dance search adventure and found a colorized
version of the Edison film of Loie Fuller dancing Serpentine. How simple life was when draping yourself in chiffon and swinging it around to enjoy the patterns was beautiful enough. Makes me want to hit thedrapery area at Goodwill. Now days modern dance is extreme athleticism. Being amazed by the body performing at superhuman levels is current culture. Even simple thoughts and ideas require contortion and exaggeration like “foxnews does art”. I’m going to find that little girl on YouTube dancing in her room, simple free and beautiful. That’s the dance like that I was remembering. I remember being a little girl like that and hoping for moments of inspiration in musicals, variety shows anywhere the media of my day could take me. Now I can watch it all on YouTube -old school, global, personal or professional. Inspiring an old choreographer.

is this breakdancing video from the band Newcleus. The song, Jam On It was constantly on the radio when I was in high school, and I remember that you weren’t worth your salt as a dancer unless you were sufficiently double jointed. I miss those days. Now everything is beautifully, unblemishedly airbrushed although everything’s gone to hell. I love how entirely unchic and fun this video is. You’ll see me at around 3:00 (just kidding).
