get a dog and train it well

G found Mika in July on a dog adoption site in Quebec. A few days later we were driving there to pick her up. It just kind of happened but we’d both been talking about this for awhile.

Mika is such a riot – a 5-year old golden retriever who jumps up and down with springs in her feet everytime you come home. She will try to sneak in kisses when you’re not paying attention, and wag her tail like it’s going to fall off when you are.

G and I talked a lot about what kind of training we wanted to do with her and so far things have gone pretty well. There are a few things we still struggle with but for the most part, I’d say we did it. YAY!

I got Princess about two months ago. She was a rescue from the dog pound. She is loveable, smart and a hand full.

I feel I have done a good job training him. for the most part.

I’ve been itching to get a dog for so long, and slowly things are coming together in my life for it to feel like the right time. I’m no longer country-hopping, I have time for daily walks and runs, I have a house with a yard and I can go home for lunch. Now the only thing that is missing is the right fence. I want to be able to let my dog outside and not worry or feel like I have to go out every time my dog wants to sniff the flowers or chase the squirrels. I’ve got my fingers crossed that I can afford the fence next spring. Maybe this time next year I will be able to love and train the dog I’ve been waiting for.
