...and so far I’ve only worn them twice.
I’ve got to get used to wearing them more!
How I did it: I got contacts a while ago now but never got on with them. I mainly got them for special occasions when I didn't want to wear glasses, and for use on sunny days when I wanted to wear nice non-prescription sunglasses.
They're just too much hassle for me to use, I've decided they're not for me. I never intended them to be for regular use so I probably haven't let my eyes get accustomed to them, but I think they are nasty little creatures.
Oh well, I've bought some prescription sunnies now instead!
Lessons & tips: If you want to get used to them, wear them regularly!

My prescription changed and I need a new set of lenses. Just can’t afford them now. Maybe I should save up for Lasic???

FunnySunny is behind bars. needs to get ready for work. (I'm supposed to be there is 38 minutes)
Live with out the glasses. Don’t worry about not being able to stick your finger in your eye. You get used to it.

I first ordered contact lenses back in April. It’s now November. The latest RPGs (“hard” lenses) are aspheric and pretty good, but the one in the right eye still rides off-center. It slides slowly download each time I blink, so I see the edge of the lens moving. Outside on a sunny day, it’s OK. Indoors or in the dark, about half my vision in the right eye is obscured.
The visual acuity when the lens is centered, though, is simply amazing. It’s much clearer even than glasses. I can see!
I’ve got another pair on order—still larger aspheric lenses than the current ones, with a flatter base curve.
I’m marking this goal done, though. I’ve been wearing contact lenses most days for six months, even though the fitting still isn’t quite done.
..from my glasses. It was such a pain having to wear them EVERY day.

Because of the cloudiness I was having with the soft contacts, my eye doctor suggested that I try rigid gas-permeable lenses (RGPs). These are the small, hard kind of contact lenses. The vision is indeed better—comparable to glasses, and maybe even slightly better.
Some problems, though!
1. The super-clear vision only happens when I look through the very center of the lens. Usually the lens is not positioned in front of my pupil just right, so I see the edge of the lens. On most of the lens (the part more than, say, 70% out from the center), vision is blurry. The eye doctor got me some larger lenses to fix this problem, which helped, but I still find myself looking through the blurry part of the lens most of the time.
2. It’s really hard to get the lenses out. They showed me the method of “stare-pull-blink” where you’re supposed to blink hard to make the lens pop out. That’s worked for me a few times, but usually I just stand there blinking and nothing happens. I have no idea what I’m doing differently to make the lenses come out vs. when nothing happens. So mostly I’ve been using the little suction cup to get the lenses out. I sure hope I never lose that!
Does anyone have any tips on learning to blink the lenses out?
The 1st time I wore contact I had alot of problems getting them in and gave up. After 2 years of fighting with glasses I tried again. I stuck with it and have now been wearing contacts for 6 years. It took me awhile to get used to the toric lenses, but I do not regret it. After 2 weeks I was putting them in 3-4 seconds without any problems. I do not even need a mirror. If you have problems stick with it and don’t give up.

For the past five days or so, I’ve found myself putting on my glasses in the morning and just not bothering with the contact lenses.
The contact lenses have two attributes that are pushing me away from them:
Also, I suspect that one reason I’ve been having lingering low-grade cold symptoms is all that poking myself in the eye.
