How to walk the West Highland Way"Walking through Scotland's beautiful scenary made the effort more than worthwhile and highly recommend others to go for it. "
How I did it: I set a date in my work holiday schedule as a start point and asked all my friends if any of them would like to participate. I signed up my best friend Paula (she had to get permission from her partner to take a week out of looking after her wee one and a half year old son's schedule to go with me). Lessons & tips: Take lots of compede, pain killers and water proofs! The weather was dry for the majority of the walk for us in May and I'd recommend doing it in May if you haven't yet decided on a best time. Resources: http://www.west-highland-way.co.uk/

Gary Rowe is organising his life and having fun doing it
How I did it: Richard first suggested that we do the West Highland Way and I, naively, thought it'd be a walk in the park. I was fit, experienced at hill walking and, hey, 100 miles isn't that far. Right?Wrong. We pitched up in the afternoon in Glasgow and were up bright and early the next day. I had my trusty boots on and had decided to keep the good socks until later. I know - naive remember? We had our photo taken by the big monument that marks the s… Read how I did it…

for the moonwalk we are scheduling a practice run (May 26) three weeks before the event, and yesterday the ladies suggested we walk Glasgow to Milngavie. As a 20 mile return, this covers our practice run and also ticks off one of the journeys for THIS goal.
the book was in today’s post, making me grin as I pushed my way in through the front door.
A friend of mine expressed interest in doing this walk with me, and I worked out the problem of her working on weekends when I realized that I have plenty of holiday time left and I can just take one Monday off each month until we get this done. Yay.
We’re meeting tomorrow for a photoshoot, and I’m eager to bring it along to chat about over coffee.
I’ve just added “West Highland Way: Glasgow to Fort William by Charlie Loram” to my wishlist. I noticed it while browsing in the outdoor store yesterday. This next year I’m committing myself to being more physically active, to saying yes to my wants, to doing all those things I kept telling myself were impossible.
I don’t have to take a week off to accomplish this goal—I can break it down into many weekend trips. The ultimate prize will be knowing that I will have done this, walked all the way from Glasgow to Fort William.
Kinda hard to walk the West Highland Way when you are 6,000 miles away. I’m stuck in the States for a few months, so I’m gonna move this goal to Spring of 2008.
I think I’d like to incorporate this into my “exercise more” goal, though, and make monthly progress reports on either training or by actually completing walk sections on weekends.
that was the year we walked to Fort William, the worst thing about it was Willie pulling ligaments falling down a ditch on the first day! the best thing, was the time we spent together getting there – a brill shared experience we will always remember
I received a postcrossing card that said they’d started their West Highland Way walk in Glasgow. From there the mentions of the walk have snowballed and now I’m really eager to train for this. I’ve looked around and I think it’ll cost appx £500 and a week of holiday. My sisters have checked out the info and are both interested in flying over here and doing this hike with me next Spring.
