have all but destroyed my lavender garden only 2 plants are still there and only one looks like it will last. I’ll start again next spring, hopefully no flooding next year.

I have 5 plants in there now and plan to add more. I will make a border for it once our back porch is rebuilt and I know what will look good next to it.

Bought four more plants yesterday and I hope to get them in the ground tomorrow. The biblical down pours have stopped but I’m betting on the usual spring afternoon rains to start soon. My first plant is doing well so I’m taking it as a good sign that the spot I picked to plant in is a good one.

I swung into a local nursery on Saturday afternoon, on my way home after running some errands. Right at the very front of their display of plants were 4-inch lavender starts for $1.99 apiece. There were a bunch of different varieties, including the one I already knew that I wanted, the English lavender called Hidcote. I figure I can’t go wrong, for this price.
A few days before, I had walked along the fence where I intend to plant my garden, and gotten a rough idea of how many plants I will need. And I was meaning to read a book on lavender gardening that I bought a couple of years ago. And I was intending to drive out to a fancy-schmancy nursery, really make a day of it just to make this purchase.
But on Saturday, I realized that I was probably waaay overthinking the whole lavender planting thing. I mean, they’re PLANTS, I have the perfect sunny spot for them, they will GROW. So, impulsively, I swung into the utilitarian-looking local nursery that I’ve driven past a million times before and always ignored. Purchased six Hidcote lavender starts. I got some tomato starts while I was there, too, ‘cause there’s nothing like fresh tomatoes in summertime!
Now, the lavender starts are sitting on my patio, waiting to be planted. It’s pouring rain, so they will just have to be patient for a day or two.

On Mother’s Day my husband took me to find lavender plants and a border for my garden and I couldn’t find any. I hope I can find some soon, I don’t want to wait until next year to finish up my little lavender garden.

My dog dug up my one tiny lavender plant for no discernable reason. I’m so mad I could spit.

I tilled up the plot where I’m putting my the garden and put a border around it. I also planted a single lavender plant that I bought at home depot a few days ago. I think I’m going to plant lavender and thyme together in it. I shold have it finished pretty soon now that the weather is beginning to be less psychotic.

I’ve got the perfect sunny spot, on the east side of the driveway. Been meaning to do this for about three years. 2009 is the year!
