    Nursing School 3 months ago

Since I have been online I have endured my first gruelling semester of nursing school. With all the economical uncertainity across the world, I realized that I could still gain lucreative employment in the health care field – duh, right. So I applied – just so that I couldn’t kick myself later, but fully expecting to get shot down. However to my suprise, I was accepted to Mohawk College about an hour from my hometown. So this will be my educational focus through December of 2010.

So Calculus Crashed and Burned - temporary hitch 13 months ago

I will get back to the calculus thing at some point. But right now I am taking an Art History course and French.

Not too sure where the Art History came from and it is soo much work, be ware those who are looking for just some directed reading- as I was accustomed to with my prev online course. This on is loaded with Essays and assignments. But now that I am aprox 1/2 way through I am beginning to aprriatiate what I am learning, thus a “good thing”

The french class is also going well, silly little things I learned in the fourth grade when all us Canadians began learning French is coming back and proving to be helpful.

    Month One 14 months ago

Ok, so I’m starting on this a little later than I expected, but better late than never, right?

The cool thing about the company I work for is that they have sort of an online “library” of personal and professional subjects that employees can study. I’m taking advantage of this by ordering a few workbooks that I think will enhance and increase my abilities both on-the-job and in my personal life.

This month, which I will call Month One (even though it’s September!) I have devoted to “Developing Positive Assertiveness.” It’s widely known amongst my friends and family that I am usually the type to have a hard time saying no. Some of them say I’m “too nice” and that I should be careful not to let people take advantage of my generous nature. Frankly, I think it’s a load of bullshit, but just in case, I’ve decided to see what this Positive Assertiveness is all about. I will update when I find out!

Medical Terminology & Calculus 18 months ago

A strange pair I know, but I recently got a job at a hospital and I figured medical terminology will help me secure a better position within the hospital. Well calculus, I just wanted to know if I could teach myself something that is said to be soo hard. My younger sister has a friend who has offered to help me out with it. So I think I am going to blow these courses out of the water.

Learning vs. Laziness 22 months ago

I want to dedicate each month to learning something new that will benefit myself. Each month I will choose an activity/skill that is small enough to accomplish in my free time with little or no financial cost.

First step: think of possible activity ideas for each month and write them down on a calendar!

The 100th person who is doing this... 2 years ago

    Gotta be a good sign.

I recently went back to finish my high school diploma and now that I am passed that “hate high school and everyone in it” I know that I am smart and enjoyed what I was doing so much more.

Now I think I will go back and update a few courses to reflect my newfound maturity. Hah!
Also am considering some parttime college courses, french or personal finance.

More lessons about installing toilets 2 years ago

A week ago I wrote about the leaky toilet problem. I thought I’d fixed it, but it was still leaking because of a bad seal.

Back to Home Depot for three more flange extenders to raise the level of the pipe in the floor. This brought it up flush with the new tile floor. I also checked out toilet instructions on ThisOldHouse.com, and saw they recommended putting the wax ring on the floor. The wax ring instructions said to put it on the toilet first, then put the toilet down on the floor.

When I had everything lined up, I set the toilet down on the floor, and for the first time, I could feel the base of the toilet smush down the wax ring, so I knew I had a seal between the toilet and the pipe. So far, no more leaks!
