I would like to always have some money put back for emergencies.
How to have a savings account
How I did it: I cut out a lot of eating out. I enjoyed eating out, and I did, as long as I had the money. I also set a spending budget on a biweekly basis. I write down the things I needed to do with my paycheck and on the weekend after payday, I would sit at my computer and pay my bills, and then check it off in my little notebook. I also became especially careful to not overdraft my account. I had always wondered if it was possible to do that, and I assure you, it totally is.
Lessons & tips: Inspire your friends to save. Once I told everyone what I was trying to do, it seemed like the game was on, everyone wanted to save money too. And that helped me keep my head above water, even when I wanted to go out to eat badly, because it would be really bad if I inspired people to change, but I could not change.
