Over the holiday break, I am going to create a meditation room out of a smallish spare bedroom.
The decor will be minimalist – I am thinking a light blue or green for the walls, a meditation cushion and pillow and a small table to hold a plant, some candles/oils, and a cd player.
I will also mount a small TV to the wall, for when I practice yoga (just move the cushions out of the way). And then the room can also serve as a place to put the kids when we are fighting over what TV show to watch (I just don’t think I can take another episode of Sponge Bob, I really don’t).
I am so excited!!

Okay, the spot I have picked out has lots of windows and you can see the puget sound from there. I thought I could make a little office for myself to do school work and to write. I’d like long white see through curtains. I’d like to have some sort of attractive sitting arrangement. And of course it could be a spot where I could listen to my music outloud instead of head phones. That very thought is so relaxing to me.
Right now I share a computer room with my boyfriend and I hate it. Hes super messy hes always smoking weed a cigarettes. If his ashtray is full he uses his desk. In the mornings hes on teamspeak playing video games and its so annoying to me. In the evenings he watches a crapload of tv. Mind you I dont mind t.v. but its how every evening is spent. I hate that. Ive got a lot of work to do upstairs. I need to bring a carpet cleaner up there and retouch up the paint on the walls. I also need to fix the door. I think if I were to make a spot for myself in the house where I could be alone and work on my goals it would make me a lot happier.

I LOVE my meditation/writing room. It has changed the entire feel of my place. I try to meditate a few times a week now. It helps to keep me centered.

Since I only sit in the dining room a couple times a year, it has been a wasted space in my 1 bedroom apartment. So the other day I moved the dining room table over to the side of the wall and a nice open space was created. I have taken some small tables and “spiritual” things from around my apartment and put it in the room. It is shaping up and I hope to start using it this week.

I just bought a small 3 bedroom house in April and I’ve turned one of the bedrooms into a meditation room. It has a small altar with icons and candles on it. I have a meditation mat and cushion on the floor and also a small loveseat. Four really nice bookcases complete the room. I have symbolic kick-knacks on them including pictures of people I pray for, a statue of the Buddha, a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and two skulls to remind me of impermanence. The room has an east window with lace curtains and so is bathed with wonderful light in the morning.
