kikimasu is back to posting on her journal instead of in this public place.
I decided that “Memorizing Poetry” wasn’t a specific enough goal. So my goal for 2009 is to memorize at least 5 decent length poems, including one Neruda poem which I’d like to memorize in both Spanish and English. I already have an idea of which poems I want to tackle first. With any luck I’ll do 10, but I figure 5 is a good goal to start with.
I know I want to memorize “Stepping Backward” by Adrienne Rich (I know parts of it already) and “The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock” by T.S. Eliot. I’d also like to memorize something by Billy Collins, Ruth Stone, and Wislawa Szymborska. If I add some it will probably be something by Amy Lowell’s Sword Blades and Poppy Seeds and something by e e cummings or Li Young Lee. Any suggestions of favorites, gladly accepted.
