At work today some people were just complaining, for what felt like the sake of complaining. Generally, I would join in with something or just agree with them for the sake of conversation. I believe I am a very empathetic person. While I think this is overall a good quality to possess, it sometimes has a negative effect on my life. I find myself mirroring the emotions of those around me. When my coworkers are stressed and angry, I become stressed and angry. When people begin complaining and bitching – I find it relieving to do so as well. While I know a good bitchfest can be therapeutic, I want to avoid negativity as much as possible. The way to do this is to cultivate the opposite, positivity. I need to look at the silver linings, embrace the bright side of any issue and continue to follow my bliss. Surround myself with positive people and activities and do my best to keep a smile on my face. 4 months ago

I’ve been so darn depressed lately and I know that I have to make the choice to snap myself out of it, but it’s been so hard. When you’re really depressed, sometimes knowing the answer and knowing you can get yourself to the answer can be two different things.
So today is it. I have to make the choice not to dwell on the past and on what’s lost. I have to make the choice to be happy.
So here are my thoughts for today:
The past was great
The future is even brighter
I am ready to make great things happen
