sabryn has had a drama-filled October...may November be calm.
I finished the course. And, with the help of some stock vector art that I tweaked, have designed my first logo. It’s nothing spectacular, and it’s not been approved yet, but I had fun doing it.
I’ve just scratched the surface, though. Many more classes to take.

I’m on chapter 10 of 12. And I’m finishing tomorrow no matter what.
Illustrator rocks! I can already see how my lack of knowledge has made past projects more difficult than they needed to be. This class (and the more advanced ones that I plan to take in the future) will make me way more efficient. Which, when you wear as many hats as I do, is crucial.

Somewhat at the expense of other projects. (I just put the non-emergencies on hold until after lunch. :) I’m now 1/4 of the way through the lesson. Depending on how ugly the changes to my big editing/layout project turn out to be (I received them 15 minutes before the end of the work day, and was too chicken to open them), I may knock out another chapter or two tomorrow. (Fridays are quiet; lots of people take off.)
After this, I suppose I should take the classes on Photoshop and InDesign, to see what I’m doing wrong – and what I’m missing.

than mental notes of goals, I’m making this one official.
I’ve been struggling with my newest hat (graphic designer) at work. I’ve learned some basic design concepts, but never had any instruction on the software. Photoshop was fairly easy to pick up on my own – Google is my friend. :) With Illustrator, however, I don’t even know what questions to ask. Thus far I’ve made do with randomly clicking buttons to see what they do, but it’s clear that I need formal instruction. (Particularly since two of my newest projects involve logo design. Scary stuff to the design novice!)
I started a course on Lynda.com today, and am very pleased with it. However, I only got a short bit into it (it’s a 17-hour course) before work (and computer crashes, and panicky coworkers, and family stuff) got in the way. To make sure I don’t shuffle this to the back burner again (I’ve had access to the courses for over 6 months now…just lacked time), I’m making it a goal.
I will learn Illustrator. Soon. I trust you all will hold me to that.

I prefer Corel Draw as a 2D vector tool, I’ve heard much about Illustrator. I want to know which is the best, so I want to learn Illustrator and find out. I’m comfortable with Corel but let me learn to judge.

I love Photoshop and can pretty much do everything I want to acheive great results with my artwork…but many clients ask for AI file so that they are in “vector” formant, so I need to learn how to use it. I’m a traditional artist and prefer to handdraw my art on paper and scan it into photoshop and finish it there. I really don’t like to begin a new art project on a blank page in Illustrator, but want to learn how to convert my hand drawn art in photoshop and then turn them into vector files and save for clients who need that. been putting it off for years.
