How I did it: Applied everywhere. Followed up everywhere. Tried to negotiate training times to reduce the time it took for them to train me so I would be more competitive. The economy is bad though. Have to realize that you can't hold out for the 'ideal' job. Any job is a good job. Eventually got an interview, went prepared with background information and questions. Was offered a job. Not the job I was looking for, but took what was given, can't turn down anything. Read how I did it… 2 years ago

1. SCMP application. but not exactly a summer job, so I have no idea :/
2. Tutoring kids. on what? my maths skills aren’t on par, and I guess I can do English tutoring…???
I really hope my maths teacher gets back to me with just at least job shadowing. D: 1 week ago

I’m supposed to get a reply about it by the end of this week. I have applied to several other places, but not too many. I am a bit busy with finals… it’s kind of an inconvenient time because ideally, I would like to start the week after finals, but I also don’t really have time to apply and set up interview before finals end.
I did find a sort-of back up. I emailed my tutoring director and he said that I can tutor at the center in the summer, but it will only be for the 8-week session, starting mid-June. That’s not that great, considering that I need to pay 3 months of rent and groceries, and the job is only a few hours a week. If I don’t get a job, I will survive, but I will be losing money and then probably have to move back home for next year :(.
So in terms of next steps.. I am still trying to get in touch with this one museum about my application status. I even left a message today. It is supposedly easy to get a job there, but what is easy for some, is not for others, I guess. I really, really, really would prefer an office or data-entry position, so that is partly why I haven’t submitted many applications. If anything, I might apply to some clothing retail positions and stay away from food service since I now have such an aversion to it. 2 weeks ago

I have an endless list of jobs to apply for and a tight deadline. I’m trying to use all of my available resources, but I am afraid that I’m going to be rejected all over again. 3 weeks ago
