i don’t know if you can say this is worth doing or not, cause it’s not exactly neccisarry, it depends on what your doing. as an actor/director constructive criticism is a big thing, and you have to be able to do it other wise you will really upset some people, and sometimes you have to to achieve your final product.

    avoidance 4 years ago

grr, I just noticed today that I avoid potential situations for receiving bad feedback. I won’t ask how I can improve and will just go with whatever good I hear automatically. I’ve got to start doing that.

responding to criticism is a key part too 4 years ago

I’ve realized that even if I can maintain composure while taking a punch in the groin (figuratively!), that’s not enough. Something I’d like to work on is being more proactive about the feedback that is given, and actually taking steps forward to change bad behaviour and maintain good behaviour, and not just sit there in a corner and sulk about it.

I’m thinking of writing down the feedback I receive, both good and bad, and for each praise or criticism, write down at least one thing I can do to change it and take steps towards doing so.

which is harder for you? 4 years ago

for me it is definitely receiving constructive criticism. Anything bad really. I feel like bursting into tears half the time because I feel inadequate. I can know that someone thinks I’m doing a bad job and be ok with it, but when they tell me to my face, I feel like it’s so much more real and I feel bad about it.
