I wish I had seen or thought of this goal a long while ago because I’ve had a number of t-shirts I’ve grown out of but loved so much it was hard to give them away.
So, from now on I’m going to keep any t-shirts that fall into that catagory and make a quilt.
I’m going to put this goal in ‘long term’ as I don’t think I’ll have lots of t-shirts, or enough anyway, for a while.

I started a long time ago. I had the shirts piled up for over a year, and I started cutting out the pieces several months ago. I’d probably finish sooner, but I don’t have it with me while I’m off at school- so I’m aiming to finish this summer.

I think this is an awesome idea. I never get to wear my favorite t-shirts because honestly there’s really not an occasion to wear them as I get older. Sure I guess I could use them as comfort clothes in my privacy, but I’m actually really comfortable shirtless. I have no idea how to make a quilt, but when I get some free time, I’m going to look into it. So my girlfriend thought this wasn’t so great, but I want to enjoy my old funny clothes with the nostalgia of how they made me feel. I really don’t want to wear them now because even though they make me smile, I would feel a bit immature around others wearing my t-shirts from adolescence and high school. My fashion has moved on but I just don’t want to let go haha.

Brandee My baby's 2 months old! Time sure flies when you're having fun!
My husband and I have alot of tee shirts that we can’t wear anymore because they are too small or worn out. I’d LOVE to save them by making a quilt.

When I finished mine my friends wanted theirs done too. I just finished my friends with all his old concert tee shirts and I’m doing 2 more. Should start making money off them wink.

I got some CUTE fabric at Wal*Mart for a dollar a yard. I bought extra ‘cuz I know it shrinks a LOT. It has little hearts all over it.
I am going to use it for the back of the quilt, but I decided to separate the t-shirt fronts with thin strips of it, too. I will machine quilt the whole thing and then put yarn ties in the little squares where the strips cross each other.
It is going to be so cool! Now I just have to find the rest of the shirts. I hope I didn’t toss them in the give-away some time when I was fed up with having things I might get to “someday!”

This won’t even get started for a while, but when my kids were little, I bought them t-shirts every time we went to Target with whatever the current Disney character was. We have dozens of them! I have had this quilt planned for many years, but now that I may have time to do it, it may actually get done!

I tried to make a quilt out of all my old jeans, it looked really cool. I had all the blocks done, and just had to attachh them, when my mom thought it would be nice to wash it before I sewed it together. It all frayed, I was sad.

If you can sneak and grab your friends/family members old t-shirts and make them into a quilt, they’ll love it. Just make sure you don’t cut up their favorite tees that they prefer to wear than to sleep under. I made three t-shirt quilts, one for my mom and one for my brother when he went away to college, and one for myself. Boy I have a lot of time on my hands- well, actually i’m an insomniac.
