More "How I Did It" stories
How I did it: 1. Have most of the photos out anyway (because my mom died and we were making a photo board for the wake)2. Clean out the closets and secretary (because there had been things I had been holding on to for her sake and because the secretary was being sold) and unearth the remaining photos and some unused albums3. Group photos in one of those flippy horizontal album things and put it out on my desk (this was the actual album part)4. Buy a me… Read how I did it…

I just ran out of time to complete this challenge. But I’m moved now and have got all the stuff with me still so it will get done eventually.

I’ve made a start putting the photos into the album but have been a little to busy to finish it off. Hopefully can mark as done by the end of the week.

Picked up the photos today. Such a lovely feeling being able to hold them instead of looking at them on a screen. I’ve started organising them into a bit of a vague timeline but will still need a bit more time before I can say I’ve finished.
I have in my possession the Vaughans, from 2005 to 2007. I am so happy about this. The kids and I went over it and over it. They were so excited. There were so many memories. I can’t believe how cool it is. Blurb really delivered. I will definitely use them again. Some comments (they are pretty common sense though, and I do a fair amount of printing of images and it didn’t even dawn on me)
1. The images print darker than the screen. They clearly try to match the images to the screen as best they can, but all of the pictures that were a little dark on the screen are darker in print. You will want to increase the colour/brightness of these images before sending.
2. The book is a little smaller than I imagined. They have the dimensions on the site, so you can quickly check before ordering. It is a good sized book, but for some reason I thought it would be bigger (mind you, I could have ordered the one that is one size larger…)
I ordered the book with premium paper, which limited the size of it to 160 pages. I have no idea what the non-premium paper is, but the premium paper is great. The book looks like a real book. Thank you Blurb!!!
PS. They ship UPS to Canada, and I had no shortage of problems with them as usual, so if you are getting your books shipped to Canada, I would request a different method of shipping.

Got a really beautiful album the other day with plently of space to arrange everything the way I want to and takes refills so I don’t have to worry about cramming everything in. Just waiting to collect the pictures and I can make a start.

Now I just need to get them printed and find a couple of huge albums to put them all in. It was so much fun going through them all again after so long.

Not only photos, but all the picturs, postcards, tickets and other junk I compiled while overseas. What’s the point of storing it in boxes when I can make it fun and easy to show other people.
2005 until 2007 is in the bag. Done. 160 pages of familial goodness. Great trips, fantastic memories, holidays and birthdays… It was so much fun doing it. So awesome to relive the memories. As I worked on it, I made myself a mental promise to take more and more photos. I hated looking for things that I remembered us doing, like Thanksgiving 2006 in Oregon, and not finding any photos. That said, there were a million things that I forgot that I rediscovered going through my digital photos, and reliving them was a pleasure without value. I will be ordering copies of this book for both of the grandparents for Christmas, as well as myself and maybe 1 of each extra to put away for the kids when they grow up.
I will try to pick up 2000 to 2004 in a book (shouldn’t be that hard) by scanning all of the photos I need from our photo collection. After 2007, I will do each year as its own. 2008 should be 60 or 70 pages.
I won’t put this one in the done list until I have 2000 to 2004 complete.
Best times of your life should be remembered after years and years and you can feel them better on paper.
+ that I don’t confide 100% in digital storage devices, they alter in years.
