I never made the winter pear jam (I chickened out)! 19 months ago

But I just found a recipe for watermelon jam that makes 1 pint. A great way to dip my toe in, and I really love the idea of watermelon jam!

One of my Christmas presents was a book about small scale 23 months ago

seasonal canning. There’s a recipe for winter microwave pear jam that I want to try. I bought the last things I need for it today, so tomorrow, I’m jamming!

There have been 2 reasons why I haven’t tried this: 1) fear of poisoning us and 2)the idea of needing to buy a bushel (or whatever) of something that I may then just ruin. The recipe I’m using I bought 6 pears, 2 apples a box of pectin, and a jar lifter for. If I ruin 6 pears and 2 apples and a box of pectin, I’ll live with it!

Tomato sauce, baby.... 4 years ago

...and it was messy, fun, and not as hard as I expected. The kitchen WAS kind of toasty, though. It smelled great in there!

Would you believe I’m picking an AVERAGE of 12 lbs. of tomatoes every other day from our garden? It’s tomato insanity!

The tomatoes are almost ripe... 4 years ago

...and so it’s almost time to learn! I think I want to try making some refrigerator pickles also….have a ton of cucumbers on the vine.
