I know that my grandfather served in Italy and Egypt. His best friend was murdered in the middle of an Italian street, right next to him. That is all I know. He passed away a while ago, I had only met him 3 times. He never talked to my father about the war, I guess he didn’t like to, just like alot of other former soldiers.
I am really curious to hear what my grandfather did – maybe I will get an insight in to why he never talked about it (I know all my other family members histories). To do this I need to firstly obtain a copy of his Death Cert from Internal Affairs (so I can make a request for his service record from the Military, they won’t release the information without confirmation he is deceased).
