I spend entirely too much time on the internet and often get fatigued from surfing all day. That said, yesterday I did a search on “how to work with elephants” and found several volunteer sites in Thailand, India and Africa that offer direct, hands-on experiences! Most are affordable and immerse the volunteer in the local culture. Some also offer the opportunity to work with children on their English language skills. If I start saving $200/mo now, I could be having the adventure of my life by this time next year! 3 months ago

You can foster an elephant for $50 through The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. African elephants continue to be poached for their beautiful ivory tusks and may soon be extinct. Left behind to fend for themselves are the babies. The DSWT feeds, nurtures, and then returns them to a herd in their natural habitat. You won’t be bombarded with further requests for donations, but you will receive updates via email on your little one’s progress. 5 months ago

I finally fostered an orphaned elephant through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Quanza had experienced the horrible deaths of her mother, aunt and sister through ivory poachers. Her survival is a miracle. Isn’t she beautiful? I hope one day to give her a big hug. 5 months ago
