Most are affordable and immerse the volunteer in the local culture. Some also offer the opportunity to work with children on their English language skills. You can foster an elephant for $50 through The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. African elephants continue to be poached for their beautiful ivory tusks and may soon be extinct. Left behind to fend for themselves are the babies. The DSWT feeds, nurtures, and then returns them to a herd in their natural habitat. I finally fostered an orphaned elephant through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Quanza had experienced the horrible deaths of her mother, aunt and sister through ivory poachers. Her survival is a miracle. Isn’t she beautiful? I hope one day to give her a big hug. 5 months ago
