I’m planning on going to Germany with my high school for 3 weeks in August 2010. We’ll be going to Aurich (in Lower Saxony) for 2 weeks with a homestay, and then traveling in Belin for 1 week.
I already know that this isn’t going to be enough for me, so I’m also planning on going back about 3 weeks later for a complete YEAR as a foreign exchange student. I want to go somewhere completely different, though, and learn some really cool dialect.
Deutschland, ich komme!

But we made it: we have moved! There’s still so much to do, so much to change. But the biggest step is made and now we have to start making this new city our home.
We almost have this view, only from a slightly different angle

we will move.
I can’t wait, but still I’m nervous. About the house, the town, new neighbours. But we’ll see: it’ll be hectic but probably turn out fine in the end – the rest will fall into place.
And if all goes well, I will be online again next week monday or tuesday.

With the country, the language, and possibly a boy.. (however, the boy is not from Germany… but he is European)
Still learning the language back in Australia, but not entirely sure at this point what my next move is.
Settle back in Aus or try to get back over there to actually live…

I’m quite sad to leave this house in Houten and had collected a few pictures I had taken over the years. But it’s the first step to get moving into our new house.

The house should be finished by then and I am very curious how it’ll be: I am german but lived in the Netherlands for 9 years now. My children are bilingual and should have little trouble adjusting, our new neighbours are both dutch and/or german as well and a lot are the same age as we are and have children the same age. Still it’s a bit scary and I am worrying about fitting in, finding my spot and one for my family to feel at home as soon as possible.

I can’t wait until I save up enough money and gather enough information to move to Germany! It’s going to be sooooo exciting!
