skipper a yacht round the firth of clyde

sailed from largs in mid-april 06, with wend as 1st mate and four guys from the office. good weekend, with a cracking sail back from arbert. only spoiler a boorish sailor who tried to cast off my boat at 1am in the morning (skipperlout of “hold fast” you know who you are)

While it’s not absolutely true that I’ve skippered a yacht round the Firth of Clyde, I did do quite a lot of sailing round there. My mate had a yacht and used to take us to Rothesay, Dunoon, Kames, Lochgoilhead and a load of other places. Can’t recommend it enough (the only drawback was that he was worse than Captain Bligh). I used to hate the use of engine when there was not enough wind – the feeling of the wind pushing you along and holding the wheel while reacting to the wind in the sails and the waves underneath was a privilege that I will always treasure.
