    Started! 11 months ago

I’ve written the outline and have shared it online using MS Live Sync with my uncle and dad, who are helping to flesh out the details of things I didn’t know they had done. My dad so far has enjoyed thinking back about stuff and I’m hoping to give more time to loooking at it and keeping it organised.

long time goal 3 years ago

I’ve said this to myself for 8 yrs…I’m making some progress thanks to a memoir writing class that evolved into a writer salon (once a month). I focus on family stories and recently got inspiration from another member who brought 3 bks she’d written about growing up in NE Mpls. She was published! I was amazed, she’d never mentioned it before. My goal is to have record. So I’m writing down bits and pieces…that’s how it must start. I think of the things I wish I had known about my now-deceased family…I write what I know and then I write about that issue in my life and times…Leave something for my decendants.

    big progress 3 years ago

This weekend I am doing the semi-annual re arrangment of the MSD apartment and part of this will be to create a work station for this project. My dining roon doesn’t see much dining, so I am thinking about setting something up in there.

This entry is entitled “big progress” and I am only making promises. Aren’t resolutions great?

This kinda goes with the trip to Sioux Falls. I have a lot of information about my grandfather, but I really need to head up there to read the newspapers, etc. (I once got some microfilm of newspapers – it cost me $90 and I copies exactly 3 pages, so the case can be made that it will actually be cheaper to go there than to pay postage and insurance).

I should spend less time on the internet and more time on this project, so that should really be the goal, I suppose. Plus, I know a lot about my mother’s side of the fam, but little of the “Dole” side. I need to work on that too.
