Many of us live very busy lives. Between a career in IT, and a family-owned business, I find myself without much time for myself. I need to take time to enjoy life, and to do the things I want to do. In the end, only I have the power to make time for myself, even if it is as simple as a glass of wine and a book at night.

I’ve been getting up early, which is the hardest thing in the world for me to do, and walking up the hill by my house. It helps, I don’t feel as tired during the day.
But I still take naps, because a nap is the best thing in the world.

Today I
got up early
drank carrot juice
drank water
didn’t drink any soda
ate salmon
took a walk with the dog
didn’t nap… too much
made a nice dinner for my family
plan to enjoy a beer before bed (only one – and I’m going to ENJOY it and not feel guilty about it)

Yesterday I had an egg salad sandwich and orange juice for breakfast, instead of a mocha and scone.
I had an orange and carrot juice with protein boost instead of soda.
I later drank two sodas.
I chose to order only the burrito, not the whole ‘plate.’
I kept my thoughts and words positive.

when I can’t say no and always end up watching everybody else’s kids. One of these days, I am gonna just go dump my kids at peoples houses that keep taking advantage of me, and say “the way I figure it, you owe me like at least a week of sitting, so I’m going to Vegas, or Hawaii, or just to bed, I’ll see ya next Tuesday… have fun!” That would be great, but I’ll have to video the looks on everyone’s faces!!

This site is been like therapy for me in this regard. I have been forcing myself to sit down and enjoy time just reading and commmenting on what I see. I spent another two and a half hours last night reading what I missed over the past couple of days. I happen to subscribe to several prolific writers so it was a lot more reading than writing. Either way, I am enjoying myself and learning a lot about myself and others in the process.

I just spent two hours reading and posting on 43 things. I am really enjoying getting to know many of you. A friend recommended this site to me and I think that it is just was the doctor ordered. I am absolutely loving it.
Now, I need to find balance… this thing is addicting.

I am taking a couple days for myself… really.
I am going to read and putter and actually go more than 5 minutes without someone asking me what I am doing or what I am going to be doing or what I should be doing.

Well today I said NO… a lot. My mother-in-law wanted to see my son (who wouldn’t) and this usually means spending the day driving to CT. She is welcome here of course but I was adamant about having a home day which is hard to do from the car. I even said no to some friends who wanted to get together. Of course, they were also welcome here but I slept in and am currently on the couch in my PJs at 3:48 in the afternoon. All in all, I am pretty happy with myself.
