So it took me over a month, but I think between taking 3 classes, working, and redecorating a month is pretty good time for finally beating the book that has taunted me for 4 years.
I have decided I want to fight Nathaniel Hawthorn. He does this thing where the first and last half page of each chapter are captivating, but everything in between is exuberant and grossly unimportant(kind of like my 43 things posts).
All in all, it is a good story told by an incredibly wordy author, and I am still not sure how I feel about the ending.

It is time...

I was supposed to read this about 4 years ago in high school, but I was able to get by without actually reading it. Yea spraknotes.
It has been my goal to actually read this book for a while now. I bought a new book today, but I told myself I can’t read that one until I finish The Scarlet Letter. Hopefully it is not as awful as I remember it.

I believe this book could not have gone any slower.

Though the first three chapters were pretty much a waste of words, as was The Custom House. But when the rising action starts you really get sucked in. It’s a classic definitely worth reading! :]

I am almost done reading this book. It’s my first book in English. My husband helps me read it, but now I am reading on my own.
I hope to be done with it by this weekend.

Read it twice, both times for school. I was able to enjoy the plot more the second time around because I wasn’t forced to analyze the literary devises. However, I find the symbolism quite intriguing.

Not worth it.
This book was the bane of my high school existance. It shattered my love of reading for a few years.
Infact, I still make snide remarks about how much i detest the book from time to time, even though I read it almost 4 years ago.

I should have read this book when it was assigned to me years ago in high school. I was bright enough to get away with not actually reading it. I should have read it then.

Great book. Had to read it in high school for English Lit, but found that I really enjoyed it.
