While getting busier and busier, I really need to learn how to control myself not spending too much time on reading interesting but irrelevant information on internet. I cannot get away from google and internet b/c the virtue of my work. However, the curiosity to everything unknown or illogical distracts me so easily and I often end up with reading a lot of irrelevant information with NO work done. Consequently stress builds up later and this just makes me even less efficient!!! So I really, really, need to remind myself to be focused on my current work-related information/knowledge, i.e, MAKE BETTER USE of MY TIME!!! From now on, I will try my best to cultivate a better habit when I am working on my computer.

apart from being busier these days, I’ve also been finding it a real struggle to write coherently lately, without devoting a lot of time to sit down and edit and re-edit – this gets very frustrating, which is why I haven’t updated even though I have things to update, and replied to comments even though I have things to say. It should pass – but just to say, I’m still here, and still intending to catch up with everyone :)

Partly the reason I’ve been away from 43things – you want to be able to talk about the progress you’ve made on goals. Depression sucks out half my time – and the rest I simply divide very, very poorly amongst the million and one things I want to or have to do. There is so much I want to do. (My 43things goals list is full right now, and I actually have a new goal I want to set, for a new story idea I have.) So: renewed determination to clear some goals off this list – or at least make serious progress on them?
It may seem sad, but I planned out my week on Sunday night, listing all the things that needed doing and attributing them to the days of the week (Monday – Friday).
Now, at the end of the week, there was only one thing that I didn’t complete, so it definitely helped! I decided I’d leave the weekend free for anything I didn’t complete in the week, and if everything’s done, then it’s free time!
I’d recommend this to anyone trying to be more productive with their time, as you can keep checking what needs to be done (I used a piece of paper so I didn’t have to have my computer on all the time) and actually get on with different jobs.
Good luck to all!
Take yesterday for instance, I spend the entire day ticking things off my to do list that I have barely anytime to do anything non-productive. However, today, with little to do, I spend the day being extremely unproductive. Just typical!
There’s the whole balance thing, that I guess if I do most things on a Saturday, my Sunday’s will be less productive, but I want to be busy all the time! It’s not like I don’t have things to do, because my list of goals is quite extensive.
I think it could be a problem with not wanting to start anything too big, encase I suddenly get bogged down in an already started task. Like ‘learning French’ for instance… I need to get some books out, listen to some CD’s and maybe see a few foreign films… I’m not too sure how I’ll combat this feeling of not wanting change, but… well I do want change, but not big change… all a bit too confusing really…
I have a real problem with spending hours upon hours browsing the net, and when I’ve finished, I look back and think, what did I get from it?
The internet is a real time waster, so I need to wise up and refrain myself from not surfing so much.
Hopefully turning my computer off before bed will help in making this goal work for me!
I seem to waste my time the most during the evenings. Since I only have broadcast tv, it wasn’t hard to just cut out Broadcast TV entirely just like that. Now the only “tv” I watch are on my laptop, which I watch on my own time. Now I just stopped watching Tv, (except for watching DVDs) and I don’t miss a thing, and I don’t feel so dead tired at the end of the day, I feel alive at the end of the day, and not like a zombie.
Its really amazing how much I can now accomplish in a week. Lots of time to work on my 43things list :) and its only going to get better now that classes are out for the semester.
do it! its the best.
I have started my own business from home, in direct sales/internet marketing. I love the industry. I have implemented multiple income streams, however, at this point I am not being productive because I am not making use of my time. I need to sort through and create a schedule. Devote time slots for each area. Discipline myself when it comes to taking calls and allowing myself to be distracted.
