Tragic childhood, teen mother, didn’t finish high school..I guess I fit the stereotype for the basic “welfare recipient.”
I worked hard, got my GED, attended community college and earned my associates degree, worked in some convenience stores, moved up into a better job as a legal assistant, and just got a job as a caseworker assistant at DHS. It feels really weird to be on the other side of the glass. It was hard..sometimes I miss getting food stamps, and the first doesn’t feel special anymore LOL but I am glad to be standing on my own
