As much as I enjoy drawing, I do not draw enough and I’m inconsistent. In the summer I was drawing for 6-10 hours a day on averge, but recently I’ve been slacking off due to various reasons. Now I’m only drawing for 1-3 hours a day which is not enough to get a job. Since I want to become an animator (or work in that field), I obviously need to not only be able to draw well, but draw almost all the time. I procrastinate way too much, so I’m going to make an effort to change this around and draw more.
My plan:
- cut time out of internet useage
- stop thinking too much about useless things
- set aside time just for drawing, only drawing! stay focused!
- become determined to fill an entire (70 page) sketchbook by the end of the year (December 31, 2009)
- participate in the local and online art communities to get inspiration and feedback to push me to draw more!
- gain confidence and don’t worry about what other people think about my drawings
- stop doubting myself (since I criticize myself way too much)
- draw a variety of subjects so I don’t get bored
- experiment and be fearless to try new things
- forget about failure; it doesn’t exist (although some results are not as pleasant as others…)
- remember that you can always improve with practice and intelligence, but if you don’t do anything you will get nowhere

I’ve been busy up until now to get back into this however went to my first lifedrawing session in ages. It was really lovely just drawing again. Went in stressed and came out calm.
I’ve got myself a new sketch pad, but I need another, smaller size, if I’m going to do this properly.

I’m not sure which way this one should be viewed. I drew it as the top having more weight.

This year is the first year academically I haven’t had to do art. Throughout primary and secondary school, GCSE, A-LEVEL, and first year of a degree I had to draw to pass a subject. Now I don’t have to and I’m really missing it!
I want to try to set a little time aside to do some art at least once a week.

good use of time at the arts center. volunteering, yet with the amount of us there, I was left to enjoy the live music in the gallery. sitting on the floor, stippling parts worked with the music.

pastel on canvas. I don’t want to use acrylic, haven’t figured out how to use oil in the house with the cat. she would find it well before it’s dry. not complete, but that’s how most of my work has been lately.

I love drawing but whenever I’d decide to finally sit down and start sketching, something always gets in the way, and in the end I’m just too lazy to do it. And I want to change that. :)

I like how the edges counter some of the drawing.
