One of my favorite places to go in my hometown is under a bridge and sit on a wall where a train passes. The train is about 2 feet away from you. Its very scary but very fun. I have many pennies ran over by trains. I keep a smashed penny with me all the time bc its now my lucky penny!!

Old friends of my Dad’s had a house right next to the train in Blighty. We set out all sorts of money on the tracks. Pound coins looked especially good. Best part is feeling how warm they get right after the train runs by. Highly advisable and much more worthwhile than those machines that do it for you.
My father and I did that a few years ago, the morning before he took me back to Colorado, where I was currently living. It was fun. Reminds me of when my dad and I..got along.
... maybe 4 or 5, we lived in a really small town in Montana and I was down at the depot with my parents and my brother for some reason. It was a really little depot, we only had one or two trains a day. We must have been waiting for the train for my grandfather or someone, but my dad helped us put pennies on the track. I was totally afraid that the train was going to de-rail and wreck and it would be all my fault, but it went by without incident and when it was gone we found our cool smashed flat pennies!
I did this a few years ago, but I believe I told you about it. I keep the flattened penny as a good luck charm in my wallet ;)
I have to admit this goal is completely and entirely inspired by the movie Pollyanna. I watched it frequently while growing up, and was always fascinated by little Jimmy Bean putting objects on the train tracks to be run over. I want to try it! =)
