SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How I did it: When I was a little girl I would watch the parade on TV and wish I could be standing in the crowd. At the time I lived in IL so I never thought there would be any chance that I would even come close to NYC, especially during Thanksgiving! Well, believe it or not, I moved to NJ last year and my boyfriend asked if I would like to go. We left the house around 6:15am and got into the city by 7:30am. There were bomb threats on the subway so they had military officials everywhere. When we got the streets there were lots of intersections blocked off so you have to pretty much walk up 5th Ave until you find a side street that's not blocked off and that will let you walk over to Broadway. We were pretty close to the street (we stood in Times Square). I didn't layer myself enough so I was freezing and couldn't stay the whole time. When we turned around to leave, there were so many people that it took about 15 min to get through the crowd! Next year we are going even earlier w/ chairs so we can sit up close; we are also going to dress much warmer.
Lessons & tips: Get there by 6am if you want to stand in front. Dress as warm as possible!
Resources: I just googled "Macy's Thanksgiving Parade" to find out info.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went when I was 12, It was amazing :) My parents took forever to get ready that morning so we got there and it was really crowded. (I was in times square across the street from MTV studios) The trick is to get there at least 3 hours before it starts so you can get a spot where you can see things besides the balloons over people’s heads.
No kidding, right? A friend and I got a hotel right off 5th so that we could be a close walk to the parade route. We were told that if we got there around seven, then we’d have front row spots. That is wrong!
I think if we got there around six, we would have gotten spots right on the route. As it was, we actually got halfway decent spots near Columbus Circle. It was a lot of fun, just be prepared to deal with the crowd.
The weather was great this year and it was definitely worth seeing but I wouldn’t do it again. It’s very difficult to get a good view, the people who get good views get to the street no later than 6:30 am, and some people sleep there over night. It’s nice to see how big the balloons really are, but if you want a good view of the parade, stay home and watch it on TV.
love2u feeling great
but very cold….
wear layers and cover your head.
It’s fun to do anything once but I have to say you get a much better view on TV.
Patti406 is moving out!
It was great. My Mom surprised me… she had booked a hotel room overlooking the parade like two years in advance (it was really expensive, too.) We opened the windows and watched the parade… Fantasia from American Idol waved at us. I can’t wait until we one day have enough money to do it again. We also went to the Today show and I was on tv.
I remember when Underdog was my favorite balloon to look for, then it was Grover. I still love Grover( and I’m gonna be 41 in a couple weeks…...I know…...grow up already). Here is a site to view some videos of the balloons…they have my Underdog
