Before I turn 50

Am starting this list because, well… I turned 48 on 5/26/09, I’ve already had one really big you-don’t-live-forever notice (breast cancer, whoopee) and there are things I want to do. I don’t want to die regretting all the stuff I heard about and thought ‘that’s cool, I should experience that’; I want to die either remembering things with delight or in the middle of making new memories. They’ll serve me well wherever I go next, and maybe I can help create good ones for other people too.
So: BURNING MAN. I want to go; given a choice, I’d go with company, but I’ll go alone if I have to. Dear gods, though, I’d rather go with somebody… There’s a quote up to the right of this entry box by Oliver Wendell Holmes: “It’s not so much where we are, but in what direction we are moving.” Most journeys are better with company. If I go somewhere just to see something (a mountain, a view) then alone is one thing; but to experience something is different. Burning Man isn’t a go-see-it, it’s a go-be-it. Sooooo… yeah.
But I will go alone if I have to. Maybe there’re friends waiting for me there that I haven’t met yet.
